Blackbeards Revenge is a renegade blend of premium coffees that bring a smile to your face without walking the plank. Blackbeards Revenge brings a full body with hints of warm almonds and dark chocolate with a smooth finish.
The land lover would like to know about the origins of the beans, I always like to know what I’m drinking and how those regions affect flavors. However, the swashbuckler in me decided to jump aboard the ship and give it a shot.
Smokiness leads off the aroma of Blackbeard’s Revenge, like a ship on fire in the distance. The light smoke scents are followed by a thick dark chocolate aroma and nutty scents.
I expected the next volley to be a dark, dark over the top dark roast. Instead their maneuvers weren’t over the top intense like I expected, instead I found a dark roast flavor with a strong coffee flavor (imagine a strong, but generic coffee flavor). Next came an at attack of traditional nut and wood, good but just added to the averageness of the sip. However, it wasn’t done yet. Dark chocolate filtered in through the smoke before it was over taken by hints of charcoal as the sip drifted away.
Blackbeard’s Revenge was a thick coffee, mostly smooth with a subtle bitterness and dusty feel around the edges.
Twelve ounces of Blackbeard’s Revenge is $9.95 on the Fresh Roasted Coffee website.
Blackbeard’s Revenge earned an above average 3.25 out of 5 on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It wasn’t your average dark roast blend. It was extremely drinkable, but I would’ve liked a bit more of flavors coming out of the galley. Dark roast coffee drinkers, I have one for you to try!
On a side note, something about this coffee makes me want to dress up as a pirate for Halloween.
