The Drink: Blueberry Cobbler from New England Coffee
Type: Ground Flavored Coffee
Overall Rating: 2.5 out of 5 coffee cups
In a pinch last week, I headed to the grocery store looking for some coffee to control a pending lack of coffee emergency. On the shelf, I came across a company that I had never heard of before. They were New England Coffee and they had some pretty interesting offerings in the flavored coffee department – Blueberry Cobbler, Chocolate Cappuccino, Hazelnut Crème and a few others. I started with the Blueberry Cobbler.
The aroma was similar to the Boca Java Deep Blue Blueberry coffee, in the way that filled my house with the scent of blueberry cobbler baking in my oven. It was a delicious smell and set off some food cravings that still need to be satisfied.
As an added bonus, mixed into the aroma were hints of honey and a dash of cinnamon.
The initial sip covered my tongue with a blueberry taste, but it wasn’t the flavor that I was expecting. Instead of tasting like freshly picked blueberries, it tasted like blueberries that had been sitting around too long and were going bad. There was a strong nutty taste that I did like, but it was countered by a processed chemical taste that just didn’t sit right with me.
If it had been more sweet, I think it would’ve been right on the money. I suppose I could’ve added sugar, but that’s becoming a sin in my book.
The after taste really didn’t leave any lasting impression on me. Take that as you want.
It earned a slightly below average 2.5 out of 5 rating on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It’s not horrible, but it’s not my first choice either. I’d recommend the Deep Blue Blueberry for anyone looking for blueberry flavored coffee.
I wasn’t a big fan of this one, however it’s not enough to spoil me on New England Coffee altogether. I think I’ll be trying others.
Do you have a favorite blueberry favored coffee?

Lol…okay, this is where I become completely weird about flavors.
1. I love the fruit blueberry.
Bring on the different roasts, regional beans, etc. – I’m all over that like white on rice – and I’ll let everyone else have the “White Chocolate Christmas Coffee” or “Raspberry chocolate cheesecake coffee” any day.
2. I like coffee with a blueberry dessert.
3. I hate almost all fake fruit flavors (especially banana, grape, orange, watermelon, apple, blueberry…etc…lol…).
4. I would hate this coffee.
5. I hate most flavored coffees, with exceptions of anything spiced, vanilla, or chocolate. When I first started drinking coffee at age 11, I lived for flavored coffee and coffee creamers of all sorts. As I have aged, my palate has…refined (not to sound snotty to those who love their flavored coffees – to each his/her own). I love tasting subtle nuances to regular coffee that have different “flavors”; like the types you pick out, nut, honey, subtle sweetness, tart fruitiness to the beans, the richness and depth to the roast, etc. With my exceptions listed above, I think flavored coffees just tend to mask mediocre coffee. I’m a quality-oriented person; give me the best of anything, even it costs a pretty penny, rather than cheap junk. That’s not to say that you can’t get really good “something” for not a lot of money; it just requires knowledge/homework and a discerning palate. I used to looooove hazelnut coffee…and now even when I smell it, it sort of makes me want to hurl. It’s mostly that cloying, artificial, chemical taste/aroma to flavored coffees that my senses completely reject. Chocolate, spice, and vanilla are pretty basic and, I think, taste better as coffee flavors (as they complement naturally), rather than unique fruit or flavor combinations. I just simply love the taste of unadulterated joe
Now I feel bad that I kind of ranted on your blog about my flavored coffee snobbery haha.
So to answer your original question, “no” blueberry coffee is my favorite
