The Drink: Bucks County Coffee Costa Rica Dulce de Sol
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.50 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
This weekend, I stayed warm with Costa Rica Dulce de Sol from Bucks County Coffee. Coffee For Less recently sent me a bag of this coffee to sample. In between the Olympics, Daytona 500, the NBA All Star game and of course, Valentine’s Day, I found some time to give it a through testing.
The name Dulce de Sol comes from the process that the beans are produced. They are picked, the red skins are removed, then the beans are spread out to dry for 12 days in the sun. Dulce de Sol translates to “sun sweet.”
The coffee primarily has a rich coffee aroma with grape and cherry undertones. I was able to pick up hints of dried oranges and a spicy mix.
After one sip, I totally understood the Dulce de Sol name. The taste was a sweet, fruity mix. There were hints of cherries, chocolate and was nutty around the edges. The nuttiness was intensified in the relaxing warm aftertaste.
Dulce de Sol has a medium body and tasted like a medium-dark roast.
This coffee runs for $11.95 for a pound at Coffee For Less. The bad news is that Coffee For Less is currently out of stock of the Costa Rica Dulce de Sol, but as soon as it comes back in, it wouldn’t hurt to give this coffee a shot.
Overall, it was an above average coffee with a 3.5 rating. I’d have no problem drinking this coffee on a regular basis.

Sounds Like A Good Coffee, I’ve Always Been A Fan Of Costa Rican Coffees. I Love The Fact That They Have Some Of The Highest Marks For Coffee Processing Practices, Also Their Farmers Get Better Wages Than Lots Of Other Places.
I didn’t know that they were paid better wages there. That makes me like Costa Rican coffee even more.
I’m not at liberty to say how much better, but it’s always good to know that where there best processing methods are the workers are getting paid for that extra care they put into the bean. Im sure they could use more money, as could I
. I will always be a fan of the coffee, just got word last month a friend has family that recently bough a farm
I’d say I may have it as a special offering someday ! C|_|
