NOW look who is tempting who to shop like the devil! Thanks, Mike, now I'm oogling the "Advanced" grinders. LOL

But you know how I feel about my Krups Burr grinder (mid-level). It comes highly recommended.

I use a water filter on my faucet, but it's still not as pure as water I've had from other places I've lived. I think it also affects the way the coffee tastes, but the filtered water is a huge improvement over directly from the faucet coffee.

Hi Mike,
Don't be afraid nothing will come out and bite you! LOL The main reason I have a sniffing and eyeballing habit is that our city water department has additives in our tap water that cause rings to form in the toilet so I figured it was not good for the coffeemaker. You can delete this if you want but it's something I'm concerned about. I don't know if a majority of people use their tap water or if they use bottled. So many things to be concerned about these days and all this stress for a cup of coffee.

The Yankees are killing me right now, that's all I can say about that.

I agree, another key to great coffee is a clean coffee maker. I use vinegar and water to clean mine and the results have been good. I'll have to try the baking soda. I'm now afraid to smell the water tank on my coffee maker.

Mike and all,
As I sit here reading the blog about "grinders" I think the New York Yankees need to start "grinding" the Phillies are on top as of the 8th inning thanks Utley NOT! Now back to the subject of "grinders" I've enjoyed my little Braun for years but now it's time to buy a new one. Thanks Mike for your write up on the Mr. Coffee grinder. I thought I'd mention after you grind your coffee make sure your coffee maker is as clean as possible it really makes a difference. I'm not the first one to make the coffee in the morning so tonight I decided to have a cup while watching the series. I'm known as the sniffer LOL I'm so concerned with anything going bad souring etc. So after sniffing the water tank I realized it was stale smelling from being closed up. So tonight I experimented with 3 steps to see if it would freshen the coffeemaker. Here is what I did and it really made a difference. First I placed 1/3 cup of white vinegar in the carafe along with enough water to fill to the top. I ran this through the coffeemaker then did the same with 1 tablespoon of baking soda added to a full carafe of water and ran that through the last was clear full carafe of water. It really made the coffee taste great with a clean coffeemaker. Now back to the final innings and a second cup. Go Yanks!

It's obviously not the top of the line grinder, but getting the Mr. Coffee grinder really changed my whole coffee experience for the better.

Perfect timing Mike. I'm looking for a grinder myself. I got tired of the big bags of coffee at the store going stale on me three days in. I want that fresh taste. I am thinking about the Mr. Coffee one.
