Coffee Shops and Weddings: Would You Get Married at Starbucks?

I know that you love coffee, but do you really love coffee? Do you love it enough to marry it? Okay, okay, no need to go that far. But for some couples who have had a special meeting at their favorite coffee shop, they’ve chosen to commemorate their love for coffee and one other by saying their vows in front of a staff of baristas.

It Starts with a Coffee Date

According to Chemistry.com, most singles go on coffee dates in this day and age because they are inexpensive, casual, and cheap. A relaxed coffee date is the perfect way to test the waters of a potential relationship, with the opportunity to bail if the date doesn’t go as planned.

Ladies magazine Cosmopolitan also rates a coffee shop as one of the best places to meet a guy if you happen to be a single gal, especially a coffee shop frequented by grad school students – since the average grad school program is normally male-dominant, tipping the odds in your favor.

Real-Life Couples Find Romance at Coffee Shops

You can’t argue with the fact that coffee and romance go hand in hand. And one real-life couple from Oklahoma, Eva McCarthy and Carmine Capparello, believed that their love of sharing a simple cup of coffee together was what made their relationship blossom in the first place.

The pair met on a dating website in 2008 and finally met face-to-face in 2010 on a coffee date. When they decided to seal the deal and get married in 2011, they figured that the best place to say “I Do” was, of course, at Starbucks, the place that sparked their romance in the first place.

The couple got their wish and was married at Starbucks with 50 guests in attendance.

Another couple who had their first date at Starbucks, Shane and Mikaela, followed suit with a Starbucks-themed proposal in a mock coffee shop setup in the woods. The groom-to-be went so far as to re-create a Starbucks menu board that he hung on a tree; it included the sweet story of how they met in Starbucks signature font.

Last but not least, another couple that got engaged at Starbucks decided to get married on the steps of their favorite coffee shop as an obvious choice. Becca and David were married in front of friends and strangers on January 7, 2012, as the perfect success story of a couple who met, got engaged, and wed at their favorite coffee shop.
