The best place to store your coffee is in an airtight container that keeps it cool, dry and out of direct light. You can learn more about how to store and not store your coffee in these previous posts, but today I’m reviewing what I thought would be the perfect solution to keeping my coffee fresh.
I bought the “Square 4-pc. Canister Set – Black” from Target. The online reviews were mixed with some positive and some negative, but I’ve had nothing but good luck with Target so I bought it anyways.
I think what got me was that they looked sleek and modern compared to most of the coffee canisters that I’ve seen. It looked like it belonged in my kitchen, instead of my grandma’s.
The set came with four different sizes, the largest was a little too big for a pound of coffee, but the smaller was perfect.
But, then I decided to do a test to see if it was airtight.
I filled one of the canisters half full with water and turned it upside down. The water came flowing out, taking the lid with it. It was the definition of not airtight.
I thought that maybe it wasn’t a fair test because it could’ve been the weight of the water causing the leak so I decided to use less water.
The second time, I poured in just a of cup of water. When I flipped it over, it still came flowing out, even when I held the lid on tight.
This canister set is definitely not airtight and if you’re looking for something to store your coffee in, I would avoid this set at all costs.
