The Drink: Broadway Blend From 35 North Coffee Co
Type: Medium Roast Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

If you’re looking for a unique, excellent tasting coffee, I have a coffee for you. It’s the Broadway Blend from 35 North Coffee Co.

12 ounces of blended coffee from 2 different continents and three distinctly different coffee growing regions. This Medium roast will leave you with sweet, chocolate and nutty flavors perfect for your morning cup of coffee. It is truly unique to anything we’ve ever tasted.

— 35 North Coffee Co description of Broadway Blend

Broadway Blend had an aroma that I couldn’t take my nose away from. It was a sweet aroma that was intriguing and pleasing. There were hints of chocolate and almost a mint tea like scent.

When they said the taste was truly unique, they weren’t lying. I had to take sip after sip until I was really sure of what I was tasting. The taste was tea like with hints of nuts and chocolate. There was a minty, medium roast after taste. It was really unlike anything else that I’ve tried before.

From a French Press, this coffee had a medium body.

Twenty-four hours ago, this coffee would’ve cost you 8.88 for 12 ounces, which would’ve been a steal. However, when I checked the website last night, the price was up to 9.88, which is still worth it and still a decent value.

It’s even more of a value because a portion of their proceeds are donated to Baby Safe, which rescues abandoned children in South Africa and counsels at risk pregnant mothers. Plus their coffee is TransFair, or in other words they’re a Fair Trade Certified Coffee Roaster

My only small complaint is that they weren’t more specific about the origins of the beans in the blend. It’s a minor complaint and overall the intriguing taste outweighs anything like that.

This coffee isn’t for everyone. I could see dark roast fans, not wanting to take more than a sip. However, I couldn’t get enough of this coffee. On the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale it earned a solid 3.5.

Fine Print.

Mike the reason we raised the price of the coffee was because we brought down the shipping cost significantly. We are actually eating a good portion of the shipping costs so that we can get it to customers at a better rate. All though the price of the coffee is more the overall cost after shipping has gone down by roughly $3.

We appreciate the review. We are glad that you found the coffee unique & worthy of a good review.

All the best

Completely understand that and thank you for taking the time to answer that! And thank you for sending the coffee!

Mike,

You’ve sold me on this coffee. I had to order some to review after reading about the mint note in the cup.

You have to let me know what you think about them!

Mike, I should also mention the beans in the roast are:

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe
Mexico Chiapas
Peru SHB

Sorry we were not more specific about that. We will change the description on our website as well.

That’s awesome, thank you for including that. Now I know why I liked this coffee – it includes two of my favorite regions right now – Yirg and Chiapas.

Mike, thanks for the great review. I have this coffee marked to order after payday next week. It sounds like one that I would like even though I do migrate to the darker roasts on a regular basis. I really love reading your reviews.

Ciao,

Ardee-ann

it’s only THIS site that would be getting direct feedback
from the reps at the company.
great job Mike.
i find that refreshing.

and of course your favorite regions represent.
was it heresy that made me brew tea along with
beans in a few cups of coffee? that’s another
way to get tea flavor in the cup.

I really love when the companies respond to questions or concerns. It really shows which companies care about their product and customers.

The coffee geek in me wants to try brewing some tea-coffee like that sometime.
