Daily Shot Of Coffee Turns One Year Old

On March 23rd 2009, I hit publish on the first Daily Shot Of Coffee blog post. 425 posts and thousands of typos later, I can say that it’s been an amazing year. I’ve been fortunate enough to try delicious coffees from all over the world and meet some incredible people from all walks of life.

I had no idea that Daily Shot Of Coffee was going to be so successful. I’ve been blogging in one way or another since 2005, but never really found a blog that stuck for more than a couple of weeks. However, from the first post I knew that Daily Shot Of Coffee was something special. I had idea after idea for blog posts. I couldn’t wait to write my next blog post. People asked me how I can spend so much time working on a blog, but for me it isn’t like work at all.

This blog wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without my blogging partner in crime, Jen from Stiletto Sports. Not only did she come up with the name of the blog, but she did everything from editing some of the posts, writing guest posts to helping determine the focus and direction of the blog.

Her role as staff writer is still developing, but Jamie from Coffee Adventures has been another person that made it all possible. She stepped in when I was getting overwhelmed with coffees to review ( a good problem to have) and allowed me to have a few nights off here and there.

I’ve had more people commenting on this blog than I could ever imagine or thank. I wouldn’t have kept going if it wasn’t for your comments. It let me know that your listening and it allows you guys and gals to give me pokes when I get off course. I was going to name all of the top commentors, but that wouldn’t be fair because all of the comments have helped this blog become what it is. I would like to thank everyone that was commenting in the early days and the people that steadily leave comments. You know who you are. Thank you!

I’m also going to thank every company, big and small that sent me coffee and products to review. Without those items, the blog posts would’ve been a lot less frequent.

Enough of my acceptance speech. This blog has going to from crawling to walking in the past year. I think the next year we’re going to take of the training wheels and it’s really going to be amazing, so make sure to hold on and enjoy the ride.

happy birthday!!! and thanks for the love—it was totally unexpected (though, justly deserved, of course!) But right back at you, my site wouldn’t work or be successful without you either! And my coffee supply would be nonexistent!

I can’t wait to see where daily shot grows over the next year & I’m excited to be apart of it! It’s a major accomplishment and you should be really proud! Most blogs die within a year but here is yours, soaring more and more every day. And a top 100,000 website in the whole world!!!!!

Happy Anniversary Mike and staff,
You know you have made this blog so user friendly, interesting, educational, fun, entertaining, eye opening, mind tinkling, mouth bud tingling and so much more. Like you said in the beginning this blog is not just for the experienced but for all who enjoy “coffee” and all that goes with it. That makes this gal come back for more. Thanks for adding so much enjoyment to my days. When my mailbox opens your news is the first to get read. Thanks for this enjoyable year and best wishes to you for what lies ahead. Now that is “grounds” for renewal for another year don’t cha think? LOL

Mike March 24, 2010 at 4:37 pm

I think it is grounds for renewal!

Geri March 23, 2010 at 8:46 pm

Oh NOOOO I made an error tinkling should have been tickling…come to think of it when you drink lots of coffe you do have to “tinkle”….LOL

Anne Moss March 24, 2010 at 5:03 am

Mike March 25, 2010 at 12:38 pm

Thank you, been great getting to know you on Twitter this year.

Melody March 25, 2010 at 10:17 am

Happy birthday to your blog! That is quite the success. One year of blogging represents a ton of hard work. I think your blog is successful because you manage to pull in some interesting content – You come up with great blog round ups, and you review a lot of coffees that many people might be unaware that they even existed. Congrats again!

Many thanks and definitely would add you to the list of people that really helped me in the past year.

On a side note, I think I also review a lot of the coffees that no one else would dare try!

Marc March 25, 2010 at 11:40 am

Excellent! I know how hard it is to get a blog off the ground so congrats on making this a daily staple for many coffee lovers.

Mike March 25, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Thanks Marc!
