Dazbog: Interview And Coffee Review

Dazbog Founders Leonid (left) and Anatoly (right)

Dazbog, c’mon say it again, this time with a Russian accent. There you’ve got it now!

You may not have heard of Dazbog Coffee Company, but after talking to the founders of this Denver based company, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of their coffee and shops across the country. I think they know exactly what the average joe coffee drinker wants.

Dazbog Coffee founders back in Russia

I’ll give you a little background, but you’ll have to listen to the interview for the full story. Dazbog Coffee was founded by two immigrants from the former Soviet Union, Anatoly and Leonid Yuffa. Dazbog stands out by slow roasting using traditional roasting techniques and using intriguing names for their blends including KGBlend, Svoboda, White Nights and the Babushka Blend. “Dazbog,” literally translated, means “God of Richness,” and they say their coffee celebrates the richness of life itself in each and every cup by honoring the past while enjoying the present. They have locations throughout Colorado, Wyoming, California and Illinois, and they’re continuing to grow. For more information visit Dazbog.com or stop by one of their locations to try a cup of coffee.

My apologies for the low quality of the sound, however I thought it would be better for you to hear them explain their thoughts about coffee and their business, instead of me talking to them, writing down some notes and attempting to share the highlights with you.

Huge thanks goes out to Tony and Leo for giving up some of their time to talk about their company and coffee.

The Drink: Holiday Blend From Dazbog Coffee Co.
Type: Whole Bean Blend
Overall Rating: 3.75 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

Along with being generous with their time, Dazbog was generous with their coffee, sending me a bag of their limited edition Holiday Blend.

Bring out the spice of the holidays with this unique blend of coffees from around the world. This coffee is a syrupy, heavy bodied blend with layers of floral, berry and earth tones followed by a caramalized sugar finish. Available for a limited time only!
Dazbog description

I brewed some of the beans in my French Press, then poured it into my coffee cup and I was excited by what my nose was smelling. The Holiday Blend greeted me with a nutty aroma, with just a touch of a smoky scent. I picked up on sweetness too and in the background there was a bit of a floral aroma (imagine walking into a flower shop) and a bit of earthiness to it (imagine the smell of freshly dug dirt – it’s a good thing, believe it or not).

The thick, syrup like coffee was a medium-dark roast that was loaded with flavor. There was a distinct sweetness, floral hints that reminded me of flower petals, and a drop or two of blueberries flavor.

A 12 ounce bag of the Holiday Blend is $15.95 and available for a limited time online and in their stores.

Overall, Dazbog’s Holiday Blend earned a 3.75 on the Daily Shot OF Coffee scale, an above average rating. It’s a great coffee that I think a wide variety of coffee lovers would enjoy. I look forward to trying more coffees from Daz Bog coffee in the future.

Fine Print.
