Dreamsipple from jAVERDE – What I’m Drinking

by Mike on September 1, 2009 in Coffee Reviews

Dreamsipple JaverdeThe Drink: Dreamsipple from jAVERDE
Type: Ground Flavored Coffee
Roast: Medium Roast
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5

Tonight’s coffee, Dreamsipple from jAVERDE brought back memories of the orange and vanilla Dreamsicle from my childhood. The orange and vanilla flavor that sprung out of the bag when I opened it reminded me almost exactly of the ice cream on a stick that dripped all over my face and clothes when I was six years old.

When I poured it into my coffee cup, the aroma transformed from overwhelming to a more mellow scent. The aroma of cinnamon was also sneaking into my nose now.

I was surprised by the seriousness of the taste, I had to take a couple sips before I was really sure that I understood what I was tasting. The medium roast and a nutty flavor took hold of my tongue. The distinctiveness of the coffee flavor really made it stand out from some of the lesser quality flavored coffees that I’ve had. The orange-vanilla was still there, but it was more creamy and sweet tasting now.

The last thing that I tasted was a lingering orange taste, but this was more like I had just eaten a fresh orange instead of the ice cream taste.

My bag was in ground form, but it tasted fresh and full of flavor. I could taste the roast to order difference that comes from jAVERDE, versus buying stale supermarket coffee.

Overall, I gave it a four out of five rating, it was one of the better flavored coffees that I’ve tried. I’ll admit that not everyone likes flavored coffee or even Dreamsicles, but if you do, you should check out this coffee.

And don’t forget about jAVERDE‘s work to help Arbor Day Foundation replant trees. Five percent of their sales goes to reforestation, so that ever dollar raised plants one tree. That alone makes jAVERDE worth checking out, the delicious coffee is just a bonus.

I’m not a huge flavored coffee guy–and I always drink coffee black–but this one sounds appealing. I’ve tasted berry flavors in coffee before, but never orange. This would be worth a try.

It’s definitely the first orange flavored coffee that I’ve tried and liked. It was different from most flavored coffees, but perfect for dessert or after dinner.
