EkoBrew Reusable Single-Cup Packs – Only $9

Today, Groupon has a deal for the EkoBrew reusable K-cups. I don’t usually use a Keurig, but when I do I use a reusable K-Cup like the EkoBrew. (Did I sound like the most interesting man alive?).

Normally the EkoBrew is $17, but today it’s just $9 (shipping included). I like the reusable k-cups because they’re more environmentally friendly (there’s no K-cup to throw into the trash after every use), it doesn’t come with the outrageous K-cup price (just pay for it once) and most importantly I can make the coffee exactly how I want. For me that’s freshly ground coffee from some of my favorite roasters. It’s a great way to get a quick cup of coffee before rushing out the door in the morning.

Background Information

EkoBrew single-cup brewing packs cut down on the waste associated with single-brew coffee systems and allow coffee connoisseurs the freedom to brew with beans of their choosing. The spacious filter houses all the grounds necessary for a mild or dark cup, and a low-tamp dispersion cone evenly soaks grounds for maximum extraction. The filter stands up to daily use thanks to a durable plastic frame and a heavy-gauge micro-mesh filter. After brewing, the filter washes clean, allowing it to be repurposed as a crib for a baby hummingbird.

Features

  • Reusable single-cup system-styled filter cuts down on waste
  • Deep chamber for mild brews or cups stronger than bathtub gin
  • Heat-resistant grips
  • Heavy-gauge, stainless-steel micro-mesh filter
  • Durable silicone seal prevents grounds from infiltrating mugs

  1. I’m not sure if anyone will be interested, But I do know that the single cup coffee makers and a huge trend. I have owned a keurig® brewer for over 4 years now and it is the best thing I’ve ever bought. I love my coffee just like the next person and I do drink a few cups every day winter and summer.

I love real brewed coffee and I love it fresh I can’t stand old stale or burnt coffee. That’s why I love my single cup coffee maker in about 30 seconds I have a fresh cup of real brewed coffee.

And no I don’t work own nor am I affiliated with Keurig® or any other single cup coffee manufacture. I just really love my machine. What I don’t like is the high cost of the kcups/pods. They cost on average between 60 & 80 cents each. And that will add up quickly.

So I started searching on ways to make my own pods I found a few ways you can beat the high cost of purchasing new kcups/pods all the time. I have tested about 5 different items out in the market place to reuse your kcups®. They all seem to work to one degree or another. But one of them stands out as the best to me. It is an aluminum foil lid that you use to reseal your used kcups®. It looks exactly like the original that comes on the kcups® from the factory. It is a foil lid that has a plastic film on it when you heat the lid the plastic film melts and seals to the top of your used kcups®. It’s awesome. I take my used kcups® peel the used foil lid off dump out my used coffee grounds in the trash wash the built in filter out and put my own coffee grounds in and then I reseal the used cup with one of these lids and it’s like I bought a new kcup®. It’s all sealed and ready for use again.

I have purchased these lids over and over and ive never had one problem with customer service or the product. They cost about $9.00 per hundred including shipping it may be even less than that so that’s only about 9 cents per lid plus the cost of coffee. You can buy the best coffee grounds possible and not have 15 or 16 cents into each cup. You can also purchase sample packs of 15 or 20 lids to try them before you purchase a bunch. And one of the best things is your not throwing all those little cups into the landfills. I reuse my cups around 25 times before I throw it away.

I’m not sure of the name of the company but their website is http://www.singleservecoffeelids.com

If you go to that website they will explain exactly how to use their product.

  2. These are really a good deal, especially at this price. I think I paid $14 for mine. I don’t have a Keurig and don’t intend to. However, I carry an Eco Brew with me along with a few pounds of real coffee when I am traveling. When I come across someone using a Keurig I demonstrate how easy it is to use the EB. Some of the better Keurig machines can actually make excellent coffee this way. For a few seconds of additional effort you get Good Coffee, Less Expensive Coffee, and don’t add to the 5 Billon K-cups that ended up in landfills last year.

    • I donated my Keurig, but for the last few months I had it, I was using a re-usable K-cup. It really is the only way to get good coffee with a Keurig, plus like you said it doesn’t lead to another a K-cup in the landfill.
