Ethiopian Harrar From Barista On Duty Review
The Drink: Ethiopian Harrar from Barista On Duty
Type: Whole Bean Roasted By Hand
Overall Rating: 4.25 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
Coffee from Barista On Duty really stands out. The coffees are hand roasted by Johnny Milton, the man behind the pan. And he doesn’t just hand roast the coffees, he roasts them specifically to coffee drinkers preferences. So far, all of the coffees that I’ve had from Barista On Duty have been top notch.
I was lucky enough to have another shipment of Barista On Duty coffee delivered to the DailyShotOfCoffee.com kitchen this week. Inside of it were bags of Ethiopian Harrar and Ethiopian Sidamo. I’ll be trying the Sidamo soon, but I couldn’t resist starting with the Harrar. Earlier versions of the Harrar were some of the best coffee that I’ve ever tasted. I couldn’t wait to see how this version stacked up.
Just opening up the bag and my nose was greeted with a familiar, delicious aroma. A grin might’ve appeared on my face as I started to measure it out into the grinder.
The aroma from the cup was a slightly more serious aroma than what I remembered. It had more of a nutty influence on the top, with a the very familiar wine like aroma behind it.
The taste was more mature too. It had a slightly darker roast flavor than what I remembered. The wine like flavor was still there, but it tasted more balanced. There were hints of fruit and maybe a little bit of chocolate. The after taste was more of the nuttiness mixed with a dry wine flavor.
Like all of the Barista On Duty coffees that I’ve tried, it was exceptionally smooth. This coffee had a medium body.
This coffee was made in a French Press, but I’ll have to try it in the stove top Moka Pot to see what other aromas and flavors come out. One of the many things that makes Barista On Duty coffees stand out is that he makes his coffees to taste good in not just the French Press or a drip coffee maker, but he also tests it out with other methods like the Moka Pot.
I had a hard time rating this coffee. It’s good, real good but picking a number just didn’t seem fair. In the end, I went with a well above score of 4.25, which just happens to be the same score the last batch of Harrar from Barista On Duty earned. It wasn’t planned, I didn’t know they were the same until I was doing a little research before writing the blog post.
Anyways, if you haven’t tried coffee from Barista On Duty, you’re really missing out. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.

Nice Review Mike! Not Because Of The Score
, Interesting U Scored This The Same As The Last One, But Whats Important Is As You See These 2 Harrars Were A Bit Different, This One Didn’t Have The Explosive Blueberry That The Last Ones Had, I Figured It Was Important To Send Another Version, To Educate The Viewers On How Coffees Can Vary In Profiles. I’m Glad It Stacked Up To The Last. Thanks Mike 4 Ur Attention 2 Detail

I must jump in on the band wagon and say “Ethiopian Harrar ” rocks!
At times words fail me and this is the time to describe a taste very easily.
If the price was not a problem for me personally I’d be a regular customer. Once in a while I’m going to drink it for a dessert coffee. It deserves all the stars or cups in ratings. My first sip was a WOW sip! Thanks for educating me about it. Nice addition to my coffee inventory experiences.
Thanks 4 Joining The Band Wagon, I Feel It Deserves All The Stars N Cups Too! But Then All Of Mikes Fun Would Be Over
