Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Konga Co-op From Jim’s Organic Coffee
The Drink: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Konga Co-op From Jim’s Organic Coffee
Type: Organic Light Roast Whole Bean
Overall Rating: Four Out Of Five Coffee Beans
I think that coffee roasters are trying to bribe me by sending me samples of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. They must know that it’s my favorite coffee region…or it’s just a coincidence that earlier this week I reviewed a Yirgacheffe from Barista On Duty and today it’s from Jim’s Organic Coffee.
I can’t get enough of Yirgacheffee coffee, they all start out with the baseline berry flavors, but the smell and taste can vary so much. The Barista On Duty Yirgacheffe was mouth watering, so Jim’s Organic Coffee was up against some serious competition.
Sunny and bright with a very pleasant lemony-ness with hints of honey. The depth displays a delicate earthiness and balance.
-Jim’s Organic Coffee Description
The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Kona Co-op was delicious to my nose. It had a sweet aroma, filled with a honey flavor and lemon around the edges. There was one thing missing, the berry flavors that I’m so used to in Yirgacheffe coffees was nowhere to be found.
Luckily, it wasn’t long before I discovered where the berry flavors were hiding. A bright strawberry flavor filled my mouth as I took ,my first sip. That was followed by a bold nutty flavor. The lemony that they describe, came out to play in the after taste. As it cooled down, it had a more of a wine like flavor. Overall, an interesting taste that kept my taste buds busy.
This coffee had a light body and scored high on the ease of drinkability scale.
A 12 ounce bag of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Konga Co-op is on sale for $11.50 on the Jim’s Organic Coffee website. It’s not the cheapest coffee ever, it’s not the most expensive either. With all the flavor that it’s loaded with, I’d say it’s a pretty good value.
Overall, this was a great coffee that earned a four on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale because of the mix of flavors in the taste. On the bag, they say it makes for a “perfect refreshing summer coffee.” I’d say that this coffee would be perfect for any day from a blistering hot Indian Summer day in September or a chilly March morning to heat up your taste buds.

I haven’t tried Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from anyone other than from BaristaOnDuty, but I may have to change that soon. This sounds really good.
Great review!
There’s a lot of good Yirg’s out there, but I’m not sure that there’s very many that can beat Barista On Duty’s coffee.
I agree. I don’t think anyone can beat his coffee.
The personal attention definitely shines through in the taste.
