Fresh Brews – The Big Gulp Of Coffee, Memory Aid And More

by Mike on January 31, 2010 in Coffee News

This week, the coffee news wasn’t limited to the coffee blogs. On non-coffee blogs there’s the big gulp of coffee AKA Starbuck’s new cup size, coffee mugs to celebrate the Superbowl next week and more. But of course, the coffee blogs are keeping busy this week and as always there’s lots of news about coffee from newspapers around the country.

Coffee Blogs

Coffee & Conservation Sustainable instant coffee
With a few exceptions, if you’re looking for instant coffee that’s sustainable, you’re going to have to look really hard. Most instant coffees are made from the lowest quality possible robusta beans, which is bad for the farm worker and the environment.

Miss Attitude New Starbucks trenta cup is no Big Gulp (WW#71)
I haven’t seen it yet, but Miss Attitude spotted the new Trenta size at her Starbucks. Tampa is one of the test markets for the Trenta, the new 30 ounce size. I love my Fraps, but that might even be too much for me. What do you think?

Stiletto Sports Super Stiletto Bowl XLIV Commemorative Mugs!
These mugs might might be a little too feminine for me, but I can’t wait for the Superbowl next week. It should be a great game. If your a fan of the Colts or the Saints, you should check out the coffee mugs at the bottom of the page.

Peet’s and CPK tell Open Carry customers: No guns allowed
If you were thinking of bringing your gun to Peet’s when you get your next morning brew, think again. They’ve banned gun right’s advocates and everyone else besides police officers from bringing guns into their store. I know I’m pretty crazy, but why do you need anything besides your wallet when you go into a store to buy coffee?

The Coffee’s Fine but Starbucks Recalls Thousands of Bottles
If you have a glass Starbucks bottle, check out this article. One of their bottles is being recalled because it can shatter and there’s been injuries reported.

In Seattle, a taste of Ethiopian coffee culture
Seattle was able to experience the ceremony that’s coffee drinking in Ethiopia. I love how one drink, coffee can bring together different cultures and people.

Aw thanks for the link to the mugs! If I can find a way to make the stilettos more manly, I will! I suppose I could do sneakers….. but then I’d have to call myself Sneaker Sports. And that just sounds silly!
