Chicago Skyline And Dunkin Donuts Cup

Trying something a little different this week, instead of just featuring stories from newspapers and other online sources, this week’s editions of Fresh Brews will also include some of the best/most interesting blog posts from the past week.

Coffee Nomad: How Does Caffeine Work? (Revisited) — Potentially a Treatment for Asthma
I was about seven years old when I had my first sip of coffee. I was with my family, on vacation when I had an asthma attack that just wouldn’t go away. My medicines weren’t getting the job done, but my dad’s coffee did.

Coffee And Conservation: No proof of shade coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts
About the only thing that I liked about my last trip to Dunkin Donuts was that drink was made with Rain Forest Alliance certified coffee, but this article says “When it comes to supporting the environment, Americans should run from Dunkin’.”

Brewed Coffee: Have You Ever “Double-cupped” At Dunkin?
We can’t directly blame Dunkin Donuts for this non-earth friendly trend, but apparently a lot of people who buy the cold Dunkin Donut Drinks are using two cups, one one plastic, one styrofoam to keep their hands dry. Seems like a really good way to add more styrofoam to our landfills, just what we needed.

Coffee Cup News: Panama Carmen Estate Coffee Review – Episode #70
Jason reviews the Panama Carmen Estate Coffee from Rocketfuel Coffee, a coffee that I’ve also reviewed here. I respect his opinion a lot, so it’s interesting to compare and contrast our findings.

I Need Coffee: The 2 Best Cups of Coffee I’ve Ever Had
“Is it really taboo to be honest about seeking certain flavor profiles at different price points? I don’t believe there is always a direct correlation between price and quality.”

Yes, there’s an app for that. The first is one that will help you find a Starbucks. The other is to manage your Starbucks Card. The only question is when does the Blackberry version come out? Don’t leave us hanging.

I like this way a little better Mike, it gives me a quick peek at whats going on all over coffee blogging land. That might come in handy now that you have me blogging about coffee too.

P.s I love the Starbucks pay for coffee with your phone idea, it’s brilliant.
