I think it’s really going to help their business. At first, I didn’t see myself using a laptop at McDonald’s – too many distractions and I’m usually in a rush. Then I remembered all of the times that I have been in McDonald’s and wished they had wifi so I could get some work done while I was waiting or if I needed a place to stop real quick and respond to some email.

This is good for McDonald’s. In our small county the kids prefer McDonald’s [this particular restaurant really does rock the customer service!], but my daughter and her friends would have study groups at Bojangles since they offered free wifi. We don’t have a Starbuck’s in our county [rural living at its best], but agree they should get with the program. Putting a code on a receipt isn’t a bad idea if they want to limit who is using their service.

Big congrats to Coffee Nate for getting in the paper, that’s hot right there!

As for McDonalds charging for internet, seems a little crazy at this point. We haven’t charged for internet use in over 5 years and we are a little company.

I’m a big fan of business making things easier for the customer and if Starbucks doesn’t change I think it’s going to to be one of the stories of 2010. McDoanld’s giving away free Wifi really shows how behind in the game, Starbucks is.

Thanks for the link up Mike! I really wish Starbucks would just open up their Wifi like every other coffee shop/restaurant in our area. I have no problem with them requiring a purchase, but don’t make me jump through hoops to get it. However, those added benefits would be nice.

I love it! Free wifi for all!!! But Starbucks is stubborn. There are perks to having a card though. You get pumps of flavor for free and a free drink on your birthday! So it’s not all bad.
