This week, MC Hammer is caught drinking Ritual Coffee, a battery is powered by cpffee and you can’t stop this! Yeah, I said it. And that’s just part of the excitement going on this week in the coffee world. Here’s my attempt to round it all up this week.

Espresso News And Reviews How we wish coffee was treated more like wine
TheShot looks at how wine and coffees are often looked at the same way, but treated differently. My favorite point is how a wine blend is a good thing, but a coffee blend is treated like a bad thing. He’s right, I treat blends as second class sometimes, I wonder if it’s because they have a an unfair reputation of being bad, leftover beans?
Coffee Geek Scoring the public can understand
The way coffee scoring is done can be pretty confusing to the average joe coffee consumer, however the Coffee Geek thinks that we need a system that’s universally identifiable. I agree 100% and then some.

Not exactly a coffee blog, but in this article it shares a guide to roasting coffee beans on a backyard gas grill. Anyone tried this or something similar?

Coffee Grounds Power Batteries
Probably the must read story of the week. I didn’t believe it until I read the article and saw the picture. It would be crazy if one day we could charge our phones or laptops with used coffee grounds.
From One Addiction to the Next: Starbucks To Offer Beer and Wine
In case you missed it, this week Starbucks opened a new location that sells coffee, beer and wine. Would you go to a Starbucks to enjoy a glass of wine or drink beer? I’d be willing to try it, at least to see what their beer selection offers and to see if they have any coffee flavored beer.

Not only a look at why coffee makes you feel good, but if you’re willing to go a little bit off topic, they also mention other foods and drinks and how they affect our moods.

Great summary of the latest ‘coffee developments’ of the week. Thanks Mike.
I found particularly interesting the Coffee Battery Powered article, amazing! However, I am not sure it would be a ‘greener’ alternative considering how aggressive is coffee cultivation for the environment.
Yeah, I don’t know how green it is, but it would be better than just throwing the coffee into the trash.

bros got a killer tee shirt along with the brew.
oh! the Ritual site is tres cool.
there is one page of a special espresso.
loved this => ‘…It’s so intense, so bright and vivid, so full on, it will leave you saying, my God… What does this mean? …’

Ritual has been on my list to try for a while. I’m not going to say MC Hammer made me want to try it more, but he did at least remind me to try it.

during work and after, when I stop for or drink coffee,
i am also driving a LOT and don’t think wine and beer would mix
as well as coffee if you want the truth.
sounds fun though and makes sense.
maybe Starbucks needs to expand and become
a nightclub comedy club venue?
LOL That might be spreading themselves too thin! However, some of my favorite local coffee shops do have local music and sometimes comedians.
I too have wondered about the coffee scoring system which has continually confused me. 80-90 points a bit arbitrary but that seems to be most quantitative reviews. I think Coffee Geek is right, there needs to be a simpler, but thorough rating system that is an industry standard.
I’d like a system that everyone could use and understand. It reminds me of the smiley face system that INeedCoffee.com used for one tasting. It was either a smiley face if it was good or a frown if it was bad. Way too simple, but easy to understand.
