Fresh Brews: Crash Landing In The Swimming Pool And An Emergency Landing

Spilled Coffee Causes A Truck To End Up In A Pool
Driver Spills Coffee, Lands In Swimming Pool
A couple of weeks ago there, was a story about drinking coffee being one of the most dangerous activities to do while driving. A man in Oregon decided to prove it, by dropping his coffee cup, accidentally hitting the accelerator and driving his car into an apartment complex swimming pool. They can blame the coffee all they want, but I’m going to have to put the blame on the driver – spilling the coffee is coffee abuse and that’s the real crime.

Flight grounded by coffee maker aroma
It’s blame poor, innocent coffee for everything this week. A burning smell in a plane flying from New York to Orlando caused the plane to make an emergency landing. The odor was traced back to the coffee maker.

Slow Internet connection? Try using a coffee filter
Finally a use for the wrong size coffee filters I bought! I’ve seen a number of interesting uses for coffee filters in the past week, but this is my favorite. Next time your internet connection is lagging, try using a coffee filter to clean the ends of the cable. I’ve seen so many different uses of coffee filters for things other than making coffee that I’m going to have to put together a few of the best and turn them into a blog post.

Clothes made from coffee satisfy eco-friendly fitness fans
I still don’t believe it’s true. One clothing manufacturer is using old coffee grinds to make clothing for runners, rock climbers and other athletes. The coffee grinds make a resultant fabric that “is soft, light, flexible and breathable and can also be used to produce an outer shell that is water resistant.” But the real question is will it give the person wearing it a caffeine fix during their workout?

The Stock Market’s Coffee Craze
It might have been a good idea to invest in some coffee companies a few months ago. The economy might be having a hard time recovering, but many coffee companies are doing really well. Companies like Green Mountain Coffee have been helped by people choosing to make coffee at home to save money, but even Starbucks stocks are doing well. Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz has even said that the coffee wars has helped business because people are more aware of their coffee. I’m not really sure how you could miss the Starbucks on every corner in America, but maybe some people did.

Free Freddo offer: Peet’s Coffee joins the coffee war
Not to be left out, Peet’s decided to join in on the coffee wars. If you live near a Peet’s (and I’m jealous), this Friday they’ll be giving away free Freddo, their blended ice coffee.

Seattle museum examines history of coffee
This is a must see for my next trip to Seattle. Of course, I’ll tell my brother that I’m going there to see him, but the real reason is to check out all of the coffee shops and this museum.

Thanks, I’ve found about 20 other uses for a blog post that I’m working on. I think I have some ideas for more too.
