Fresh Brews: Death Wish Coffee, No Coffee For Two Weeks, Oh My!

Welcome to Fresh Brews. Each week, I scour the internet, stumbling through dozens of blogs and across hundreds of newspapers to find stories for our round up of all that is informative, entertaining and random in the coffee world. Enjoy!

Death Wish CoffeeDeath Wish Coffee Promises 200 Percent More Caffeine Than Average Roasts
They call it Death Wish Coffee, I call it cheesy marketing ploy. They claim they found a bean with 200% more caffeine. Why no one else has heard of this “special” bean is beyond me. I’m guessing that it’s actually a chemical process and that the coffee tastes like chemicals and it’s over roasted to cover up as much of the bad taste as they can.

No Coffee or Tea For At Least 2 Weeks
You have been warned. If you’re thinking about getting a teeth whitening treatment, you may not be able to drink coffee for two or more weeks. Now that is a scary thought! Almost as scary as the Death Wish Coffee.

Review: Peet’s Coffee and Tea // Ancient Abyssinia
In this review, Drew investigates some of the intentional fuzziness that some coffee companies use to obscure where their coffee beans come from. It’s something that I’ve dealt with when dealing with both large corporate companies and smaller family owned roasters, that leaves me with a mixed feeling.

  1. Interesting blog. I love the name of this coffee. It must be a really light roast! If you are ever in Panama and want to do a Boquete coffee tour, let me know.

  2. Nice collection Mike. Now, let’s do some reading. :)
