Fresh Brews: Drink Coffee And Lose Weight Or Your Clothes

by Mike on September 20, 2009 in Coffee News

Bikini Coffee

Fresh Brews is the weekly roundup of everything going on in the coffee world, often including random and completely useless information.

Need to lose weight? Then try a green coffee
While this story almost reads like a press release, it does include an interesting information about a Shape Coffee, specific kind of coffee that can help people lose weight. For me, drinking better quality coffee so I don’t need to add loads of sugar and cream has helped me lose a few extra pounds.

Bikini coffee stands tricky to restrict
Some of the employees at one of those bikini coffee shops, where the female baristas wear nothing but swim suits and lingerie, have turned it into clothing optional and their neighbors are getting upset. The weird part is that there’s not one mention of the quality of the coffee at these bikini coffee shops in any of the articles I’ve read so far. So weird. It’s almost like none of the customers are concerned about the taste of their coffee, like they’re distracted by something else.

Coffee wars: Which coffee joint has the healthiest options?
A guide to what are some of the healthiest options at three of the major coffee chains.

Is Lavazza a fit for The Bravern? Italian coffee giant eyes Seattle area, wants local franchisee
Watch out Starbucks. Lavazza, an Italian coffee company is coming to United States. They’re setting up coffee shops in cities like Chicago and Seattle. I’ve had Lavazza coffee before, I liked it, but really have no idea how a new chain of coffee shops is going to do in this current market.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. Pours on the Solar Power
Now this is awesome! Green Mountain Coffee Roasters are adding solar panels to power some of their buildings. I wish more coffee companies, or just companies in general would do that.

Peeved at coffeehouse price hikes, coffee club organizer resumes home roasting
With increased (inflated) coffee prices and sometimes shady sales tactics, Michael Allen Smith of Coffee Hero, is fighting back by roasting his own coffee beans at home again.

Coffee lovers turn to home roast for headiest brew
Roasting coffee at home, isn’t just for people looking to save money. It’s also a great way to get the coffee tasting exactly the way you want it.

Why Your Laptop Flakes Out at the Coffee Shop
Ever get loads of error messages when turning on your computer at a coffee shop. Here may be the answer as to why.

Cup of woe: Woman faces charges after using WiFi in coffee shop
While I feel kind of sorry for the woman because the situation was definitely blown out of proportion, it is never okay to give the police a false name. Maybe, if she had some coffee that day, she wouldn’t have been making mistakes like that.

Ahhhhh Lavazza…great stuff :) I know the owner of Rim Cafe (coffee shop) in South Philly (he emigrated from France a few years ago), and he SWEARS by Lavazza. I’ll have to pass that article along to him, see what he thinks :)

I’ve had Lavazza just a handful of times, maybe he thinks that it could be good enough to take hold on a grander scale.

Hey Mike you know the girl in the tanning lotion posters (not coffee related) that we have in the salon? She started a bikini coffee company in Seattle like 2 years ago, I wonder if it’s her.

Really? There’s only a handful of them…I wonder if there’s a way to find out.
