It's reassuring that Starbucks is departing from the debate about price to focus on its most discriminating attribute: the in-store experience. Sure, frequent grinding means more fabulous coffee scent. It also imbues the drink with good, old-fashioned attributes such as work, care, freshness, discernment, etc.

In the current coffee war, all of this says "worth the cost" to me far more than any Starbucks advertisement that debates McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts about price.

Thanks for this monomaniacal coffee blog, by the way. Two thumbs up.

I'm definitely going to keep an eye out, since I know what I'm looking for. From what I've heard, I wish that I had a 49th Parallel or Inteligentsia near me for many reasons.

"slim to none" --> only in independent coffee shops.

Your chances should increase as *$ starts deploying more of the machines nationally. I've had a *$ brewed Clover. It is pretty decent, but no where near as good as 49th Parallel or Inteligentsia.

The CLOVER article doesn't mention that Vancouver is also a city that still has the machine. I saw 3 during my May trip. There are still 3 (non *$) ones left in Seattle.

Yeah, I just don't see it. Definitely a unique stain, but that's about all I can see.

Hmmm, I was expecting something like the stain on the bottom of the coffee cup, like you see in a white cup after all the coffee is gone.
