My own pay-it-forward wasn't so successful. I sometimes shop at a supermarket where you pay 10 cents apiece for plastic grocery bags - which are sturdy enough to be really really reusable. I figured I'd be nice and pay for 10 bags for the lady in line behind me - the cashier and the manager couldn't figure out how to process the request. It was the weirdest thing ever...I ended up having to get back in line and buy a pack of gum so I could buy 10 grocery bags and hand them to the lady behind me in the line.
