I hope everyone had great holidays and if you were traveling, hopefully Southwest didn’t misplace your bags, like mine (and then found them). Anyways, we may have been taking it easy last week, but there was still plenty of action in the coffee world.
Coffee Blogs
Coffee Hero Your Coffee Really is Murder!
A very sexist Folgers Coffee television ad. So bad and so cheesy. It’s funny until you remember that many husbands really didn’t treat their wives like that.
Dear Coffee, I Love You The Beta Cup
There’s no question that paper coffee cups are filling up landfills at record rates. But is the answer an innovative reusable coffee mug or changing people’s attitudes towards single use cups?
Coffee Cup News Holiday Traditions Coffee – Episode #100
Congratulations on the 100th episode Jason! If you’ve never been to Coffee Cup News, now is a good time to head over there. He does video reviews of coffee in a fun, entertaining way.
Jamie’s Coffee Adventures
I’ve been following Jamie on Twitter and it’s obvious that she has a passion for coffee. It was just a matter of time before she started her own coffee blog. Not only does she do coffee reviews, but she’s also chronicling her home roasting adventures.

Knife in chest, man orders coffee in Hazel Park
Just in case you haven’t heard. This week a Michigan man was stabbed, then walked half a mile to a dinner to order coffee and wait for his ambulance. I love coffee, but that’s just crazy.
Coffee calories — how does yours add up?
A plain cup of coffee only has five calories, but some drinks loaded with sugar, milk and whipped cream can contain upwards of 450 calories. Time to go take out my mountain bike for a ride.
Watchdog slaps 160-million-euro fine on coffee firms for price fixing
Three coffee companies allegedly got together to control coffee prices and artificially inflate them in Germany. Coffee price fixing is nothing new, it’s been going on since Brazil did it in the early 1900′s.
No More Coffee Served To Inmates
Now, this is just cruel and unusual punishment. One Cleavland jail is taking away the coffee. That alone is enough to keep me on the legal side of the law.

Knife in chest, man orders coffee in Hazel Park = Hardcore
You thought you were diehard coffee addict, that man has a serious problem!
What a hoot! I am wondering if the server was inspired to make a “knife” design” in his cup before presenting it to him? LOL Poor guy I hope he is healing now and had a happy holiday after all he went through.
I read a few articles and while it was a pretty big knife, my understanding was that it wasn’t a life threatening injury, so hopefully it won’t be long before he’s drinking coffee again.
Why let something like a knife in the chest get your day off to a bad start? I wonder what would it have taken for him to skip his cup of joe?
