I am reminded of Alfred E. Neuman's definition of the suburbs: "Where they chop down all the trees, then name the streets after them."

Thanks for the coverage. I'm not a fan of the idea. First Starbucks puts the mom and pop coffee shops out of business, now they want to impersonate them? What next, will Walmart break into small mom and pop chains so they'll look more friendly? What a joke.

I really don't have a problem with Starbucks trying to tap into the local scene. I expect businesses to try to make money -- and Starbucks isn't guilty of anything but that. I don't much care for their signature over-roasted, high-acidity beans, but apparently a lot of people do.

Kudos to the protester, though--at least he was clever about it.

It really should be interesting to see how the new Starbucks concept stores do.

LOL. There was a whole group of them protesting. I saw some better pictures earlier this week, but couldn't find them again this morning.

I really really like the design concept behind the new Starbucks "Local" coffee houses.

On a side note, you mean to tell me the loser in the picture above has nothing better to do than stand in front of a coffee place and vent? Can't he just write a blog instead?
