I’m glad that you thought so, I really like finding all these articles about coffee, but wonder sometimes if people like reading them.

RE – JIMS METHOD. James Hoffman shares his detailed, step by step method for making the perfect iced coffee to stay cool this summer.

HIS IS BETTER THAN MINE.
mine is a lot simpler than his.
i brew using less water, add more coffee
and add a splash of sugar in the grinds
and of course i use a lot of ice.
it’s better than the iced coffee my Keurig
system makes which is the way i’d hope
it works out.

I like his method too, but it is a little bit on the detailed side of things. I’m really like cold brew coffee with a toddy or hourglass this summer.

Jack shares his guide to finding the best coffee in the local grocery stores
============================================================
i check for both the best beans and the freshest ones.
best is (for me), organic and fair traded beans.
you often have to really search for the roast
date information. i’d agree with Jack.
most offered bagged coffee will not show thati information.
they WILL show a use by date which isn’t that helpful
at all and i hope that changes industry wide.

Jack August 2, 2010 at 2:30 pm

Good point Howard, I often see the “use by” date which seems rather useless if you are trying to get fresh coffee. Hmmm, maybe we should push distributors to all have a roast date? Sounds like a pipe dream though.

Mike August 3, 2010 at 8:56 am

I third that, I really wish there was a way to get more roasters to put a roasted date. It’s almost like the best used by date is taking advantage of consumers who don’t know any better.

If you really like that fresh roasted coffee taste, then you should try roasting your own coffee at home. There are a lot of good articles out there and is not as much or as involved as you would think. Lots of articles out there on how to roast coffee with a popcorn paper. Yum!
