Fresh Brews: Twitter And Some Really Expensive Coffee
by Mike on May 24, 2009 in Coffee News
Will Twitter boost users’ taste for coffee brand?
It seems like just about everyone is on Twitter now, lots of great independent coffee shops, roasters, and of we can’t escape the giants Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Eight O’Clock Coffee decided to join in the fun too. The story describes their reason to join Twitter and their method of marketing on it. I don’t know if any Twitter message alone is going to make me go out and buy a specific brand of coffee, but it has put Eight O’Clock Coffee on my radar. I remember seeing it on grocery store shelves, but haven’t really thought about it for a couple of years. I might have to pick some up and review it soon.

Starbucks Brews a Plan to Twitter for Dollars
Maybe, I haven’t really had enough coffee yet this morning, but I think this article is horrible. First of all they’re talking about something that isn’t even news anymore. Starbucks has been on Twitter for a while now. Then you can tell that the reporter doesn’t follow the Starbucks tweets and probably doesn’t even tweet himself. I hate to defend Starbucks, but their Tweets have been pretty reasonable and not at all pushy. Now, I remember why I unsubscribed to Time magazine a while ago.
New Starbucks Ads Seek to Recruit Online Fans
I’m starting to get a little tired of the whole coffee wars thing, but I did find this article about the way Starbucks is marketing online a worthwhile read and a lot better than the last article.
A caffeine-free coffee plant is finally here
I guess, I can’t say that I’m surprised about a caffeine free coffee plant, but it is pretty amazing what they can do. I’m curious what it’ll taste like versus traditional decaf coffee. Not that I’ve ever had decaf before, but it could make for an interesting taste test.
Brother, can you spare $500 for coffee?
Five hundred dollars for a pound of coffee or $12 for a cup. It sounds like a bottle of Dom Perigon, but it turns out that it’s poo from the civets, a cat like mammal. I couldn’t make this story up if I wanted to.
“It’s harvested from wild civet poo, not caged; it’s high-grade organic arabica beans, not the lesser robusta; it’s not mixed with regurgitated coffee beans; and the coffee farmers in the small village of Doi Chaang in northern Thailand are the major beneficiaries.”
Anyone going to be brave enough to try it?
