Fresh News From The Coffee World I read a lot about coffee, maybe a little too much. I’ve been reading a lot of blogs, a couple of books and many online newspapers for any information that I can find about coffee. Weekly, I’ll share with you some of the most interesting news stories that I’ve dug up. I’m going to try make this a weekly feature, maybe more or less often depending on my mood, I mean flow of news.

The title is definitely a work in progress. I thought about everything from Brews You Can Use, but that sounded more like something for a beer blog to Required Reading For Coffee Lovers, but that reminded me of text books I was forced to read in middle school.

Fresh News From The Coffee World was definitely the least cheesy title that I could come up with right now. I blame not enough coffee for the reason that I didn’t conjure up a better title, but it’ll work for now.

Iced coffees that are easy on wallet and waistline
A great news story on how to save money and make great tasting, healthy iced coffee. A similar blog post has actually been on my todo list for a while. I’m still going to be blogging about it soon, but this article gave me some delicious ideas to try.

Starbucks lists 200 store closures
I don’t think anyone was really surprised with this. The economy is hurting, so many people are brewing coffee at home and looking at other ways to save money. Plus, it really didn’t help that they created a new definition of product saturation. They have stores on every corner. I have at several locations to choose from within a five minute drive.

Starbucks to Sell VIA Coffee at Select Retailers
In other Starbucks related news, they’re going to start selling their instant coffees at Costco, Target and Barnes And Noble locations. The only bad news is that it’s limited to select states. Looks like the rest of us will still have to order it online for now.

Coca-Cola, Illy Launch Ready-To-Drink Coffee Illy Issimo
It seems that Starbucks isn’t the only company getting into the instant coffee game. Coca Cola and Italian coffee maker Illy are putting out an instant coffee to compete in this growing market. This could get interesting. I can wait to try it out.

Cold Stone Creamery introduces new line of coffees
Here’s something else that I can’t wait to try. I love their ice creams and smoothies so I think I’ll have to give their iced coffees a shot next time I see a Cold Stone Creamery location.

Coffee maker recall: fire hazard
If you bought a coffee maker at Walgreen in the past few years, you should probably check out this recall. It sounds like these coffee makers could wake you up in completely the wrong way.
