When I think Mardi Gras, I think things like… Never mind, let’s just say that when I think Mardi Gras, I don’t think coffee. However, Community Coffee, a New Orleans based coffee company says that their Carnviale Cake has the flavor of Mardi Gras in every cup. I couldn’t wait to taste their interpretation.
The aroma of the Carnivale Cake coffee wasn’t at all difficult to pick up. From the minute that I poured it into my favorite coffee mug, cinnamon and vanilla filled my nose. It wasn’t at all an overwhelming rush of scents that I expect with flavored coffees. Instead, it was it was a much more serious and mature coffee aroma than I expected from a coffee called Carnivale Cake.
The taste was mature and serious enough where it might interest those who aren’t fans of flavored coffee. It wasn’t an overwhelming flavor, but at the same it was enough for people who do like flavored coffees.
The taste was bright and full of flavor. The first sip hit my tongue with a bold burst of Central American coffee flavor.
Initially, I tasted more cinnamon than vanilla. One of my friends commented that it was a little too cinnamon for him, but I thought it was balanced out well with the coffee flavor and vanilla.
As it cooled, it be came more sweet and more of the vanilla came through and rounded out the easy to drink flavor.
The after taste was all vanilla. It left a flavorful impression on my tongue after every sip.
I still don’t think of coffee as the beverage of choice for Mardi Grass, but this is a delicious coffee with a well balanced taste. It’s an above average coffee that earned a 3.25 out of 5 rating.

Yeah that does sound great Mike! Cinnamon & vanilla are very acceptable or complimentary flavors with coffee.

OMG this coffee is a amazing, and I pretty much detest almost all flavored coffees; I agree with you that the flavor is just right, not too much, but enough for the flavor-fans.
It’s too bad it’s only a limited edition roasting, and available only once or twice a year; then again, it gives me something to look forward to in January
