Go Coffee Go Adds A New Roaster To Their Lineup

I wanted to share with you some exciting news from Daily Shot Of Coffee sponsor Go Coffee Go.

From their press release: GoCoffeeGo.com, a hip and groovy online coffee marketplace has quickly become “the” place to buy coffee beans online, fresh roasted-to-order. The website continues to attract attention from major coffee industry players and the Who’s Who of the specialty coffee world who seek to sell their coffees on the elite roaster marketplace. Continuing to expand on its A-list of artisan coffee roasters, GoCoffeeGo is proud to announce the signing of Portland newcomer, Water Avenue Coffee.

GoCoffeeGo.com was created by two coffee lovers who were left feeling bitter in their cup, one too many times. They wanted to bring the best coffee roasters together on to one site with one easy checkout. Co-founders, Scott Pritikin and Elise Papazian heavily vetted each and every roaster on their site. They spent two years in stealth mode, secretly ordering coffee and cupping it a variety of different ways, then jumped planes, rode trains and drove automobiles, traveling across the country for two months straight, to meet and check out each coffee roaster and their operations. “The goal was to not only carry the best coffee from the Who’s Who of specialty roasting, but also to actively seek out and promote talented new roasters. A lot of big names in specialty coffee did not make the cut. Water Avenue was a great discovery for us and they blew us away with their coffee. They were not just another new micro-roaster in Portland. Their packaging and passion was irresistible. These guys clearly know what they are doing.”

While it is true that Water Avenue is a new roaster, owners Matt Milletto, Bruce Milletto and Brandon Smyth are anything but new to the coffee industry. Brandon Smyth roasted for Stumptown, Matt Milletto heads The American Barista & Coffee School where students from all over the globe learn the latest techniques and trends in coffee extraction and Matt’s father, the esteemed Bruce Milletto, is founder of Bellissimo and The American Barista & Coffee School. Bruce is recognized by the media as “the voice of the specialty coffee industry.”

“When choosing roasters for the site, a lot of big names didn’t do well.” Pritikin says, “Ultimately, when we cup people’s coffee, we do not think about their name, their hype or their reputation. All that matters at that point is how it tastes. That’s it. You cannot put a barista in the shipping box. The beans must stand on their own.” Papazian adds, “When someone buys coffee from GoCoffeeGo.com, they can be sure that they are getting the best quality coffee, sourced from the sweetest, ripest handpicked and hand sorted coffee fruit from the best farms and grown in the best soil on the planet. That is what GoCoffeeGo is all about. We do not mess around. The roasters we carry are truly the Indiana Jones’ of the coffee world. Most spend a substantial amount of time traveling to origin and working directly with the farmers to bring back the best product on earth to our customers. Then they roast it to perfection, their own unique way. Our roasters put love in your cup. When we tried Water Avenue’s Coffee we could taste the love. GoCoffeeGo is all about love…. And without love, you’ve got nothing.”

Water Avenue Coffee will join prestigious Roast magazine’s current and former “Roaster of the Year Award” winners, Equator Coffees & Teas, PT’s Coffee, Klatch Coffee, Higher Ground, Metropolis Coffee, and coffee legend George Howell’s Terroir Coffee, as well as the hottest in the 3rd & 4th wave coffee roasting movement, Coava Coffee, Ritual Coffee, Novo Coffee, Johnson Brothers, Barefoot Coffee, Atomic Cafe, Cuvée Coffee, and Verve Coffee, on GoCoffeeGo.com.

Great post Mike. I’ve been weary about e-commerce sites but always loved the go coffee go website. This post really helped give me a better idea of what they are about and know I will give them a try.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

I was a huge fan even before Go Coffee Go became sponsors. I placed a couple of orders with them and never had any problems.

The Marley Coffees are probably one of the best coffees to buy – they’re organic, money from the sales goes to help communities, etc. And yes, I have a lot of work to do on that store.

I’m also putting together a page that lists all of the fair trade coffees that I’ve reviewed on the blog. I just need more time in the day.
