Harrar from Barista On Duty – What I’m Drinking

The Drink: Harrar from Barista On Duty
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: Four Out Of Five
The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from Barista On Duty that I tasted last week was good, but the Ethiopian Harrar was a great coffee. The pan roasting of this coffee really really brought out some incredible flavors out of these coffee beans.
The first thing I noticed about the Harrar was the unique aroma. A mix of mocha, fruity and earthy scents steamed out of my cup and into my nose.
But what made it stand out more was the taste. It had a very fruity initial taste, then on same sip, it turns more woody and mocha like, with a hint of dryness before it disappeared off my tongue. In the top ten for most flavorful and delicious coffees that I’ve sampled this year.
The initial fruity taste was made of a mix of blueberries, grapes and probably a few other berries. It was a fruit explosion on to my tongue, but the fun wasn’t over yet.
As it cooled down, it mellowed some, with the fruit taking more control over the whole taste. I swear I could feel fresh fruit rolling over tongue.
Throw in the fact that it was exceptionally smooth and it could be an award winning coffee. It easily earned a four of five ranking on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale.
I think that everyone should try at least one cup of this coffee. It’s easily worth the $10 per six ounce bag to taste this.
