The Drink: Hawaiian Kona from Rocket Fuel Coffee
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: Four Out Of Five Coffee Cups
Last week, I unexpectedly received a red box from Rocketfuel Coffee. It was like an early Christmas present. Inside was a sample of their holiday gifts: a Rocketfuel travel mug, 6 designer cards and a golden bag of 100% Hawaiian Kona.
My plan was to taste this coffee on Monday, however a nasty cold bug had some other plans. It seemed like it took forever for my taste buds to recover. I couldn’t wait to try this coffee and I wasn’t able to taste until last night.
The aroma alone on this coffee made it worth the wait. It was warm and relaxing. Mostly a nutty aroma, mixed with some hints of sugar and a drop or two of honey.
The first sip was very nutty, with hints of cloves.
As it cooled down, those two flavors were joined by cinnamon, honey and a little bit of butter.
Each sip came complete with a soft, mellow after taste.
I’m not going to lie, I didn’t just sip this coffee. After I had a good idea of the taste, I devoured what was remaining in my cup. It was delicious.
It would put this right up with the other 100% Kona’s that I’ve tasted. It’s a solid four out of five. Excellent coffee, the kind of coffee that would look good under any Christmas tree.
A half pound of this will run you $20 at Rocketfuel. I don’t think Lisa would complain if you check out her other coffees while you’re there. Also, I heard that their Esmeralda Special is now on sale for $55 for a half pound.
