House Blend From Volunteer Coffee: 10% Off For You – 10% For Charity

The Drink: House Blend From Volunteer Coffee
Type: Whole Bean Blend
Overall Rating: 3.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

Next up in the Daily Shot Of Coffee kitchen is Volunteer Coffee’s House Blend. It’s a Fair Trade Certified blend of beans that are roasted to a Full City level (medium-dark or so roast). Neither the bag nor their website don’t mention where the beans are from, which of course my curious mind would like to know, but it’s not the end of the world if the coffee tastes good…

Full Flavored, balanced blend. An excellent choice for drinking any time of the day.
-Volunteer Coffee Description

This House Blend greeted my nose with a warm nutty scent. The aroma reminded me more of a dark roast, than a medium roast but there were no hints of it being over roasted. Overall there was a sweetness to the aroma and tiny hints of fried green tomatoes (imagine walking into a kitchen where fried green tomatoes are being prepared).

Like the aroma, the taste had a warm nutty flavor with distinct sweetness and tiny hints of smokiness. I picked up on cinnamon and maybe some hints of some other spices. A mild darkness came out in the after taste and lingered on my tongue after the coffee was gone.

A 12 ounce bag of Volunteer Coffee’s House Blend is $9.97 on their website.

If you visit the Charity Bean Members page on the Voluteer Coffee website, you can find coupon codes for 10% off your coffee and when you use those codes 10% will also be given to a charity of your choice. Just hover over the image to get the discount code. Charities include Livestrong, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and many more organizations.

Overall, House Blend is another solid offering from Volunteer Coffee. It’s a good, very drinkable every day kind of coffee and earned an above average 3.5 on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale.

Fine Print.
