I Need Your Help – Win Coffee In This Blog Post

I’m taking break from our standard programming today to get your feedback about Daily Shot Of Coffee.

Every year I do a survey, asking you guys and gals about what you think about this blog and how it can improve. The feedback is always great and very helpful. I followed the suggestions as much as I could in 2011, reviewing as much coffee and coffee equipment that I could get my hands on.

This year instead of asking you to take a survey for me, I want to make it a little bit more free form. I want to ask you some open ended questions about this site and how I can improve it for you. Leave a comment below or send me a private message via the contact form if you don’t want to share your answer with the public. Answer however you like.

Oh and before I forget, one person who answers will win a bag of coffee from Go Coffee Go. Winner will not be chosen at random. Winner will be selected based on the quality of the answer.

What would you like to read about on Daily Shot Of Coffee in 2012? What information would you like to find on this blog? Is there something coffee related that you would like to learn more about? Is there something coffee related that is giving you problems?

Thanks to everyone that takes a moment to answer the questions. I really appreciate the feedback and your time. I look forward to making Daily Shot Of Coffee full of awesome in 2012.

    Mike
first i hope the holidays are doing well for you and yours.
    also have a tremendous 2012.
i’d like to view or see more about the other end of the
    coffee business on your site.
such as input or comments or ? whatever from the
actual growers of the beans. that would be unique
and i don’t find their voices on the internet in one
location so it’s a bit hard to figure their perspective.

also, if you had ways of being a coordinator of
ideas for anyone who had them and wanted to
bring them to the attention of those in the
coffee world, that would also be unique.
sort of a coffee invention addition to this site?

take care, you are appreciated and one good guy.

howard, thanks for always being such a loyal reader and commenter. I appreciate it!

I think we’ll see more of the story from the farmers side in 2012, a lot of coffee roasters seem to be sharing more of that information, including Azahar who I’m currently reviewing and going to interview for a blog post.

I have the blog as a platform for ideas, but I might have to think more about what you’re saying.

I would like to know when Limited Editions of coffees are available, ie, Kahlua. Also, recipes to make our coffees more exciting. Also, new coffee makers and how you rate them before we buy a lemon. Any other surprises and the unexpected only a professional like you would know that you could treat us to. Also, more giveaways, more often.

    • Mike says:

daria, I can definitely see what I can do about getting the word out about limited editions.

I’m hoping for a lot more coffee maker reviews in 2012. There were a handful last year, but I’m on track to increase that.

More giveaways are in the works, but it’s a little too early for me to say what they are just yet.

  3. Mike says:

I’m always looking for cheap places to buy green, un-roasted, coffee beans. I wonder if you might know a place i can order from online or local, i live in Fort Worth TX.

  4. I enjoy reading the reviews of different coffees you sample and could always use more reviews about coffees that are available, except for civet coffee, I am not going near that one.

I like reading articles with different takes on the world of coffee from consumers, to baristas, to coffee suppliers and coffee growers. It makes the world of coffee come right into my living room as a living breathing entity.

For the most part your coffee blog meets my needs as a reader and consumer.

    Cheers,

    Ardee-ann

    • Mike says:

Aredee-ann, I don’t think we’ll hear anymore about the civet coffee here. I know that it’s roasted to be safe for human consumption, but what bothers me is the way most of the animals are treated.

I hope that I can give you more variety of articles in 2012.

Thank you too for being a regular around here and always retweeting my posts.

    Mike,
Thanks for the opportunity to make a suggestion.

I love ‘good’ flavored coffee. This can be a journey in itself to find a good one. I do love finding a site/business that really stands behind itheir products.

How to brew a smooth cup, coffee recipes, and coffee related products/savings are what attract me….to this site.

Coffee lovers tend to be passionate folks…and I love to learn from people that truly care. It makes a difference!

    Thanks again for the opportunity!

    • Mike says:

Debbie, thanks for taking the time to give me this feedback. I really appreciate it.

It is hard to find a good flavored coffee. I can count on one hand the number of companies that I’ve come across who made good flavored coffee that wasn’t loaded with chemicals and didn’t taste like chemicals.

I do see more and more coffee companies that are proud of their product, hopefully that quality is the trend not quantity in 2012.

I think I can help with articles on making smooth cups of coffee. For recipes are you looking for drink or food recipes? Coffee related products/savings, are you looking equipment or more along the lines of coffee?

Have a great new year fellow coffee lover! I think to improve your site there could be a little twitter feed on the side of your site…as well as an obvious my fave coffee box…cause I know we are always after great coffee and it changes eventually. Most importantly I think maybe a link to a photo feed maybe of coffee growers, beans in different places of the world type pics…maybe a guide of different coffee flavors and roasts…in a colorful display of ground coffee as the icons… Maybe some videos that actually looks into the world of coffee from point A to Z. I think that would be a great start. StumbleUpon might also be good to use for everything coffee… that would give you lots of ideas if you don’t use it already. Did you know that Martha Stewart has a favorite coffee? Did you know you could make a coffee maker from cement? … All the best to you in the new year! God bless.

    • Mike says:

Christie, thank you for the feedback too! I love your ideas. Cheers to the coffee lovers!

Twitter feed is coming up soon! As far as a coffee box, did you mean like a coffee of the week or month? Or something else completely.

I’ll work to get more pictures from the coffee growers and roasters, I think that would be great to have some variety and not just pictures of the bags. I’ll see what I can do about the different flavors and roasts.

Great idea about the videos. I know there are some good ones out there, I would love to share them.

It looks like I have some research to do, lol, I had no idea that Martha Stewart had a favorite coffee or that someone could make a coffee maker out of cement.

First off I LOVE your blog, thank you for all the time and love you put into keeping it current. YOU rock dude!

Okay here are my thoughts… I enjoy hearing about your sponsors and why you have them on your team and why we should support them and support you. Honesty is the way to go.

I have bought coffee from vendors you write about. In fact, I did a special project with King David Coffee: http://www.kingdavidcoffee.com/ all because you wrote about them. Sam is a great guy, and I would never have know about them is you had not written about them.

And like mentioned by another fan, of yours, I like hearing about limited coffee.
Keep up the great work, Mike. Thank you -Lorene

    • Mike says:

Lorene, great to hear from you again. Thank yous for the feedback and kind words.

I love finding great coffee roasters/companies like King David Coffee, especially ones with great stories and people behind it. I have a couple of coffee reviews lined up already for next year that I think you’ll like.

Thanks for reading and happy new year!

  8. Adeline says:

Coffee is one of the few things that is enjoyed all over the world. It would very interesting to read whether there are certain traditions and ways that they enjoy their coffee, and discover just how similar–or different–they are with how we enjoy our coffee.

    • Mike says:

Adeline, I think that would make for a great post(s). I can think of a few traditions off the top of my head, but I would love to learn about some more.

  9. Kathy says:

I think your site is already pretty great—I love everything about coffee! I guess what most catches my interest, though, is what’s new: beans, shops, trends, equipment, how-tos, etc.

  10. Steph says:

I would like read more about sustainable ways to make coffee and posts about coffee growers around the world.

    • Mike says:

Steph, you got it! Thanks for taking the time to leave the feedback. Those are two areas that I’m looking to cover a lot more in 2012.
