The Drink: Kenya Kiambu Peaberry Ndumberi Co-op from Jitterz Cafe
Type: Whole Bean
Roast: City+ Medium Roast
Overall Rating: Four Out Of Five Coffee Cups
I traveled to Kenya today thanks to Kaye from Jitterz Cafe and her Kenya Kiambu Peaberry Ndumberi Co-op coffee. It’s one of the few coffees that I’ve had from Kenya and none of them were as memorable as this one.
This coffee had me from the first sniff. It has a bright aroma that caught my attention. It’s a mix of fruity and earthy. I detected plums and cherries that were described on the packaging, as well as red grapes and maybe a hint of tomato. I’m still not sure if that was just my nose playing tricks on me or not.
The taste reminded me of a sweet, red wine. Each sip was bursting with flavor. It was bright and full of acidity. I could taste the cherries, plums and grapes, but my taste buds were also detecting cranberries now. It was sweet, almost like honey or brown sugar had been roasted into it.
The after taste was just as delicious. It was smooth and didn’t lose any of the flavor.
Overall, it was smooth with just a hint of bitterness.
This coffee reminded me of the Yemen Ameera And Trade from Paradise Roasters that I had earlier this year. Both had a fruity, almost wine like qualities. Both were delicious and stood out from most other coffees.
Kenya Kiambu Peaberry Ndumberi Co-op is one of the best coffees that I’ve tasted this year, an easy four out of five on the Daily Shot Of Coffee rating. I can’t wait to try more coffees from Kenya and Jitterz Cafe.

Huge thank you to Kaye or @CoffeeKween on Twitter for sending me this delicious coffee. You can find her blog at Confessions Of A CoffeeJunkie.
