I can hear the coffee purists and snobs screaming at me right now, but today I’m drinking the Kona Blend from Community Coffee and I’m enjoying it. I know they’re yelling at me because it’s not a 100% Kona, but this blend brings something to the plate.
The aroma was muted compared to the 100% version, but it still had a sweet, warm aroma that made me take notice. Inside of the aroma there were floral and nut like hints.
Each slip was full of flavor. It wasn’t as pronounced as the 100% Kona’s that I’ve tasted, but it did have a bold taste that woke up my tongue on a sleepy, rain filled afternoon.
The taste was delicious – honey, a touch of smoky flavor and a woody-cedar like taste, that came together to please my tongue.
The lingering taste on my tongue was more bitter and almost sour, but it was still a positive feeling. It combined with a nutty flavor, that kept my mouth wanting more.
At $7.99 for 12 ounces, the Kona Blend from Community Coffee makes for a great everyday coffee. It’s not a rare treat like 100% Kona, but it’s a lot more affordable than $20 or more a pound.
The growing purist in me didn’t have high hopes before I took the first sip, but I was pleasantly surprised by this coffee overall. It turned into a very easy 3.5 out of 5 rating and I’d recommend it to anyone that wants to get an idea of what Kona tastes like without breaking the bank.

Yeah, the special that they’re running is a great deal, plus it doesn’t hurt that they have a lot of great coffees.
Well it’s safe to say that I have never head the real or fake, or whatever a “purist” like yourself would call it. I wouldn’t mind trying it though, there’s something about the word “Kona” that makes me feel relaxed. Again I have never had either.
I am becoming a huge fan of the Community Coffee brand coffee’s ever since I started reading your reviews.
