Millstone Pumpkin Spice – What I’m Drinking

The Drink: Millstone Pumpkin Spice
Type: Ground Flavored Coffee
Overall Rating: 3.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Cups

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, something to do with all the candy and that it’s my birthday, but I’ve never been a fan of Pumpkin Spice coffee. The Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks was okay and just about every other one I’ve tried tasted like really bad pumpkin pie. However, the Millstone Pumpkin Spice is a winner in my book.

The aroma coming from my coffee maker smelled like a pumpkin pie after it cooled down. Pumpkin dominated the aroma, along with hints of cinnamon and allspice, almost exactly like a home cooked pumpkin pie. It hit the scent perfectly and wasn’t at all overwhelming, which is becoming my biggest fear with flavored coffees.

The taste was a perfect balance of a nutty dark roast taste and pumpkin spice. There wasn’t too much pumpkin spice flavor, almost to the point where non-flavored coffee fans looking to get into the holiday spirit might like it.

I’ve tried a handful of pumpkin spice coffees over the past few years and this was by far the best. It gets an above average 3.5 out of five rating.

I’d recommend this to people like flavored coffees or even those who didn’t. It would be perfect for a Halloween party or even after Thanksgiving dinner. The only thing that would’ve made it better is if I added whipped cream on the top.

This is the first Millstone Coffee flavor that I’ve tried. I couldn’t help but noticing that they have a Holiday Peppermint flavor. I have a serious weakness for any coffee that’s peppermint and I can’t wait until it comes in season.

Yum! I might have to try this. And now I remember that Millstone is in the grocery store. *cue look of distaste* I’ll grudgingly try to find this, only because you said it was good, Mike! On your head be it! :) LOL

Try it, let me know what you think. I’m starting to think that there might some coffees that are good at the grocery store, IF they could be guaranteed fresh, which I’m sure doesn’t work with the grocery store model.

I really didn’t expect to see that high of a rating for a Pumpkin spice coffee, I might have to get in the festive season and give it a shot.

To save money, I do my own ‘Autumn Blend’ by taking my favorite unflavored coffee (mine is Community Coffee Between Roast) and I add cinnamon and nutmeg to the grounds before brewing normally. Yum.
