The Drink: Mind, Body & Soul from Equal Exchange
Type: Ground Organic Blend
Overall Rating: 3.5 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
I opened my Valentine’s Day gift from Equal Exchange a little early. After reading the reviews online, I couldn’t wait to taste their Mind, Body & Soul organic blend.
Mind, Body & Soul is a blend of medium and Vienna roasted beans. The beans come from small farmer co-ops in Latina America.
The first thing I noticed was the delicious aroma coming from the bag even before I made the coffee. It was probably one of the best smelling coffees in that department that I’ve tried recently.
Mind, Body & Soul had an aroma that was a combination of chocolate, cedar wood, nutty (they say Pecans) and after reading their description I could pick up butterscotch and vanilla custard. However, that might just have been the power of suggestion.
The taste had primarily a nutty flavor, with hints of chocolate and a sweetness. The after taste was much darker, more nutty and had a darker chocolate flavor.
I’m going to agree with their description of it feeling weighty and thick.
Mind, Soul & Body comes in whole bean or ground form and is $9 for a 12 ounce bag.
For someone that is concerned about the environment and the people that produce this coffee, Equal Exchange partners directly with co-operatives of farmers who provide high-quality organically grown coffees.
Overall, this is a solid coffee. I would’ve like to have tried in whole bean form, but it was still an above average coffee with a 3.5 rating. I liked this coffee enough that I already recommended it to a friend that was looking for organic coffee.

someday when i have won the Powerball i’d like
to open / operate an analysis lab and actually find
out what the contents of these coffees really
is down to the micronutrient level and compare
them with normally grown (non organic) beans.
the difference in coffee aromas is astounding.
I’d love to the results of that analysis.
