Mocha Java From Community Coffee Review

by Mike on February 10, 2010 in Coffee Reviews

The Drink: Mocha Java from Community Coffee
Type: Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.75 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

I’ve had a lot of top notch coffees from Community Coffee, their Founder’s Blend, the Crescent Blend, their French Vanilla and now I have another to add to the list.

Their Mocha Java is a medium-dark roast that’s a mashup of two distinctive coffees, Mocha from Yemen and Java from Indonesia. They combine to make a coffee that’s unlike anything else that I’ve tried.

The aroma of the Mocha Java one me over. From the first sniff, I was sold. It’s has an unmistakable aroma of chocolate, dark cherries and finishes off with a spicy mix.

The taste was just a bonus that sealed the deal. It has a strong taste, that woke me up from my mid afternoon lull. It was started off with a nutty flavor that was definitely the Java beans. That was followed up with an intense dark, dark cherry taste in the middle that was the Mocha. It felt like someone was literally dripping cherry syrup on to my tongue. I’ve never tasted a coffee with such an intense flavor, but I liked it and so did my taste buds.

There were also hints of chocolate and a little bit of a spicy mix.

Overall, it was mostly smooth with just a hint of bitterness towards the end of the sip.

They describe the body as full and I’m not going to disagree.

The Mocha Java is $7.99 for a 12 ounce bag and I think that’s a steal.

I don’t know if I’d want to drink it every day, but I think it’s a great coffee and I really enjoyed tasting this coffee. I think it’s a coffee that everyone should try at least once. Overall, it was a well above average coffee with 3.75 rating on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale.

Fine Print.

This sounds like a coffee I would definitely enjoy. Mocha and cherry, ’nuff said!

Hmmm… a little bit of a spicy mix… that’s interesting. It might be worth a try although I’m definitely not into intense flavors! From your write-up, I think the enjoyment comes from having a sip or two rather than having too much at one go. Is that right?

I really enjoyed the entire mug, but it was one that I slowly drank, really enjoying each sip.

Half of me thinks that you would love this coffee. The other half thinks that it might be a little too much for you. Either way, I think you should give it a shot.
