Nothing To Hide: Two Coffees From Peter Asher Coffee And Tea
The Drink: Yirgacheffe from Peter Asher
Type: Single Origin Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 4 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
I think the word is getting out that I love Yirgacheffe coffee, the first coffee that I tried from Peter Asher Coffee And Tea is their Yirgacheffe.
Before I even opened up the bag, there was something that I really liked about Peter Asher Coffee And Tea. Their coffee packages has all of the details about the origins of the beans right on the back of the bag, including altitude that it was grown, varietal of the coffee plant, how it was processed, etc. I don’t want to call out any names, but it seems like a lot of companies are hiding that information for one reason or another, or they just don’t know that information about their beans. It says a lot about a company that shares that information on every cup of coffee.
Things got even better when I opened up the bag and brewed a batch in my French Press. A short time later, my nose was greeted with a smooth chocolate aroma, that mixed with the aroma of freshly cut timber with a hint of citrus dabbled in.
It wasn’t just the aroma that didn’t leave me disappointed. The taste was delicious and full of flavor. It started off with a chocolate flavor that left a dusty feeling on my tongue. There were hints of cedar that you couldn’t miss and tiny drops of citrus going on behind the scenes. A dry chocolate after taste lingered on my tongue long after the sip was over.
Overall, the Yirgacheffe from Peter Asher earned a respectable four on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It was a flavorful coffee that a lot of different levels of coffee drinkers could enjoy and one that I would recommend trying.
The Drink: Guatemala Fina Huixoc From Peter Asher
Type: Single Origin, Whole Bean
Overall Rating: 3.75 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
Next from Peter Asher Coffee is their Guatemala Huchue. I’m not going to lie, I’m a big fan of coffees from Guatemala, especially this region so I was looking forward to brewing up a batch of this one too.
This Guatemalan greeted me with chocolate flavor that was loaded with notes of spices. In the background there was a fruity sweetness that balanced the aroma.
The taste started with chocolate too. It had a strong chocolate flavor up front with hints of spices and a fruity flavor in the in the background. The fruit flavor was dark and sweet like a peach or strawberry dipped into chocolate.
The sip left my tongue feeling crisp and clean. It had a medium body.
Overall, another solid coffee from Peter Asher. It earned an above average 3.75 on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It was the first that I’ve heard of Peter Asher Coffee And Tea, but now I’m looking forward to trying more of their coffees.
Both coffees are available on the Peter Asher website for $10.50 for 12 ounces.
