wonder when people figured out to brew coffee?
the historical references are to eating the ripe beans
along with various other food mixtures.
then, someone figured out to roast the beans
and grind them and brew them.
there must have been an interesting chain
of discovery to match this evloution.
That’s a good question and it was really bothering me until I could look it up. I know that I’ve read about it in some of the coffee books I read, but I had to turn to Wikipedia for the answer…
The earliest credible evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears in the middle of the fifteenth century, in the Sufi monasteries around Mokha in Yemen.[3] It was here in Arabia that coffee beans were first roasted and brewed, in a similar way to how it is now prepared.
Wow, some great tips there in creating the perfect brew! I must say I have been a sucker for reheating my coffees if they went cold and could never figure out why they didn’t taste as good 2nd time round. Now I know, thanks!
