Ninety percent of the time I buy my coffee online, either from online roasters or online coffee shops. The other ten percent of the time, I buy my coffee at the grocery store or at a handful of local roasters.

What about you? Where do you get your coffee?

Last week’s poll was “Are You A Starbucks Fan?

Fifty-two percent of the votes were in the middle.

I do love Starbucks for some of their specialty drinks however I would much rather have my everyday coffee brewed at home (and NOT costing $5 a cup)

Rob Teplansky said:

I had a similar experience with you, Mike, where Starbucks was my first real experience with coffee that didn’t come out of a grocery store can. But these days, I find that their coffee can be so strong and dark sometimes that it makes my stomach hurt. I tend to prefer a coffee now that has more subtlety and complexity. That said, you may still find a cup of their coffee in my hand from time to time.

Dom W said:

I’m fairly ambivalent towards Starbucks – their quality is a little patchy and the blend they use for espresso-based drinks is a little on the harsh side, only really works for me in latte or flat white.

That said, I’m finding myself frequenting Starbucks more often, just because they’re so ubiquitous.

Thirty percent of people said that you’ll never see them there.

Ryan Braby said:

I’m not a fan of Starbucks. I think they are to coffee what McDonald’s is to hamburgers. If you can’t find anything else or in an unfamiliar area, you can count on a fairly consistent level of mediocrity.

I do not love Starbucks, I dont like their standard coffee, it utilitarian , like dunkin donuts. Their espresso is decent when needed. They used to have more variety , now, meh

Eighteen percent said they stop there every day.

I think it’s pretty obvious that I am Starbucks fan. I might even be what they call a brand evangelist.

The only time I buy coffee at the grocery store is when I am running very low on coffee or I ran out. I try and keep on top of online coffee orders, but sometimes I forget.

Mostly grocery store or some retail spot–World Market, for example.
I just had the opportunity to purchase coffee at Trader Joe’s (I was visiting Calif… they don’t grow TJ’s in TX), so I have several cans of beans to play with,,,,Yippee!

I used to buy the coffee beans from starbucks for my coffee maker. This past Christmas I got the Keurig coffee maker that makes the single cups. You have to buy the little “pod” size coffee grounds that fit into the machine. I don’t know how I ever lived before this thing came along. I still have to get my latte from Starbucks every now and then but I love my Keurig.

Two coffee drinkers in our house so yes I do shop for my husband’s coffee needs at the grocery store. He likes what they have there and he is easy to please. I love variety I get burned out drinking the same coffee day after day. I grab a bag of coffee at some local coffee shops and specialty stores so it keeps my taste buds on the ready for some surprises. I do check the date on the bags for freshness. Since I’ve been a regular reader here I think I’m becoming a coffee snob! LOL Learning too much for my own good.

our local ‘supermarketstore’ has placed someone in charge of the coffee and tea aisle who seems to get it. in the past year or two they have brought in numerous smaller designer brands and a surprising number of different beans and roasts. since i hit their grocery almost once a week for our families big food and produce run, i meander up past their offerings just to see what is available. (besides Starbucks products which are extensively co-marketed there with a coffee bistro counter). i have found 5 other varieties which are fair trade AND organic! i’m sold. they offer beans if i want to grind them myself, and ground coffees if i need convenience and still expect something moderately good tasting. their K-cup assortment isn’t quite there yet so we get ours online.

i know using prepackaged coffee (and ground prepackaged coffee) is a sin to a lot of highend drinkers; but it seems to work for us. i’ve even taken to bringing in larger bags of the ground ft+o coffee to my office since there are a few of us who seem to enjoy something different than usual as a daily drink.
