Poll: Have You Ever Bought Coffee Online?

Internet Coffee Computer

This week’s poll question is “Have You Ever Bought Coffee Online?

And if you have bought coffee online, what are some of your favorite online stores? I’m always looking for new ones to try.

My answer is yes. In my immediate area, there’s a limited places to buy fresh coffee. For me buying coffee online, has become the better alternative to buying coffee at the grocery store.

Last’s week poll question was “What Do You Want For The Daily Shot Of Coffee Rating System?

Stars received zero votes.

A grade system received two votes.

But the real competition was between coffee beans and coffee cups. Coffee beans had a small lead the whole week, but in the end it was a tie. I’ll be sticking to coffee cups for now. This week, I saw that a lot of websites use the bean in their rating, plus the comments in favor of coffee cups were the real tie breaker. However, I might improve the wording of the rating system and make it more prominent.

  1. I’ve definitely bought online. I feel it’s the easiest way to get freshly roasted coffee at the best prices. I look for sites that offer free shipping after you hit a certain price point. Usually $20-$30 is the sweet spot for me. That way I can buy 2-3lb of coffee at a time with no money wasted toward shipping. I don’t like buying much more than that, otherwise i won’t be able to use it all while it’s still fresh. I only use about 1lb of beans per week.

Rocketfuel coffee is the best place for rare coffee.
    Some other great places are:

    - Johnson Brothers coffee
    - Allegro coffee
    - Paradise Roasters coffee

Order some Kopi Luwak from rocketfuel and tell Lisa that Jamie sent you. She should remember me.

Yeah, primarily anymore I buy online. I used to buy loads of Gevalia online, and it’s still how I buy most of mine now since I converted to the Cult of Community Coffee. There are two local roasters in my town: Gerhardt Coffee, who was the first roaster in my town and has been around for over 100 years (their coffee is really really good, too), and Square One Coffee. I have mixed feelings on Square One; the nice thing about them is that they use organic and fair-trade beans to roast, but…I’ve had better-roasted coffee.

I never buy from the grocery store. I have gotten a few bags here and there from Starbucks and Seattle’s Best, but it’s been a while. Overall, online works out better for me, too, with special discounts on product and/or shipping.

99% of what I order online is green (unroasted) coffee. Living in Seattle puts me within a few miles to a number of world class roasters.

I have yet to purchase my coffee online I am pretty addicted to touching and feeling every package in the grocery store when I go every Sunday before football. It’s like a relaxation thing for me.
