Poll: How Do You Make Your Coffee?

by Mike on November 21, 2009 in Polls

French Press

This week’s question is “How Do You Make Your Coffee?

I know there’s a lot of different ways to make coffee, so how do you do it? Do you like the taste of coffee from a french press? Do you like the ease of a single serve coffee machine?

Is your favorite way not included? Leave a comment below.

Have more than one favorite way? You an choose more than one answer in this week’s poll.

For convenience, I most often use my drip coffee maker. However, my espresso machine and my french press get a lot of work too.  My Aeropress doesn’t get as much attention as it should.

Last week’s poll was “Do You Like Starbucks VIA?

From all the discussion that I’ve been reading online, I thought for sure that this was going to be a blowout. However, it was much closer than I expected. There were just three more people that voted that they didn’t like it, with the final tally 13 votes to 10.

Not worth the money.

You know how much I hate it! If you want my complete review just visit my site :) Anyway, IF Starbucks would have marketed Via as the ‘best’ instant coffee, then I wouldn’t be so hard on them. That isn’t the case. Starbucks’ tactic here is to equate Via with freshly brewed coffee…and I suppose a TV dinner is as good as a 5 star restaurant.

Well Honestly When I Tried It, I Thought It Was Drinkable, But Most Coffees I’ve Tried Have Been Just That. Taste N Price Don’t Add Up, Not To Mention This Is Off The Subject But Their Lil Support The Troops By Sending Them VIA Was Upsetting, they Didn’t Have A Matching Program.

There were several comments of people that weren’t fans, but nothing from the people that like VIA. What is it that you like about the VIA? The convenience? The taste?

I got SPOILED in Italy … I have now abandoned my other methods and become a coffee snob with my own stovetop espresso.

I just got a stovetop espresso maker, I was going to try it out this weekend. After reading how it changed you, I’m really excited to try it out.

I’ll be curious to hear how you like stovetop espresso! Did you try it yet? I’d like to think my addiction is purely because of taste, but I do have a strong association with a little Italian apartment, an outdoor “deck” and an ocean view. Then again, I have since abandoned the “coffee club” at work because it just doesn’t have enough taste to compete with my own cup in the morning. It’s all I need!

I did try it. It came out a little rough the first time, but the second time was like magic! However, it would’ve been a lot better with an ocean view in Italy. I think I could make a habit of using the stovetop espresso machine.

I use a drip-pot and a press, but use the drip-pot more often. I love the press, and think it gives the truest taste of a coffee, but the cleanup it requires means that I reserve it for weekends and for brewing up the very best beans I get.

I’m almost exactly the same way.

Nothing like waking up to coffee making music dripping into the carafe of the automatic drip coffeemaker. The aromas travel directly down the hall and hit me while I’m trying to catch just a few more winks. Inhaling the coffee seems to give me a boost to get that first leg out and up and starting the day. Thanks to my husband for preparing the coffee first so we can clear our cobwebs. As the day progresses I love to use the French press. It is so direct and gives me such a clean pure cup of coffee without the coffee having to go through so much hassle. Happy Thanksgiving to all and thanks Mike for your great site. It was great finding you this year.

It is a beautiful sound and smell first thing in the morning. Or really anytime in the day.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Thank you for finding my site and coming back on a regular basis. I really do appreciate everyone that visits here!

I alternate between french press & stovetop moka pot…but the moka pot usually wins out, for that first cup of the day. Although I just bought a single -serving size ‘fr/pr’ & I find I’m using it more often. And yes Happy Thanksgiving!

I think the Moka is a great way to start the morning.

Happy belated Thanksgiving to you too. Sorry, I missed your comment earlier with all of the craziness this week.
