Richard Charlton’s Coffeehouse in Colonial Williamsburg

I’m feeling a little under the weather tonight, so I thought I would share with you this news from Mars Drinks and American Heritage. On November 20th, colonial history comes alive with the launch of the Richard Charlton’s Coffeehouse in Colonial Williamsburg.
Mars Drinks and American Heritage have teamed up to create a unique and pallet pleasing cultural experience around America’s centuries-old passion for coffee and tea. In conjunction with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Mars Drinks has embarked on a major restoration of the 18th century Richard Charlton’s Coffeehouse that will reopen its door to the public on November 20th. To top off this announcement, Mars Drinks and American Heritage have partnered to recreate colonial style teas, coffees and chocolate made only from ingredients available during this period.
With coffee beans from the West Indies and a custom blend of black tea made with tea leaves from India, the blends will be available for consumption at America’s only running 18th century coffeehouse.
In keeping with its legacy, Richard Charlton’s Coffeehouse will serve coffee, tea and hot chocolate to guests, creating the beverages below the main floor and utilizing a dumb waiter to serve it to customers upstairs. To add a modern twist, R. Charlton’s Blend Coffee and Tea will be brewed using Flavia’s Creation 400 brewers.
The Flavia American Heritage R. Charlton’s Blend Coffee and Flavia American Heritage R. Charlton’s Blend Tea will also be sold on MyFlavia. A 12oz package of American Heritage R. Charlton’s Blend Whole Bean coffee will be available soon in shops at Colonial Williamsburg.
