I know it opened November 20th of last year, so I would assume it’s still open. However, I haven’t been there in person so I can’t say for sure. I’ll keep an eye out for further info.

Hi,
Does anyone know if Richard Charlton’s Coffeehouse is currently open to the Williamsburg public, and if so, what time and what days of the week? Some of the information/dates I found indicate it might still be under construction? Couldn’t tell. Our family will be traveling to Williamsburg the second week of December, the 9-11, 2010, and during one of the decorating tours,I am certain my husband and sons would rather enjoy a cup of coffee in a wonderful historic setting.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

American History in general was my favorite subject. I’ve wanted to visit Colonial Williamsburg since I was a little kid, now that they have a coffee shop there, I’ll have to finally go there.

Cool stuff Mike. Coffee houses actually played a major role in history, serving as the backdrop to the birth of the American Revolution! Colonial America made the switch from tea to coffee after the tea tax that spawned the Boston Tea Party. From that time forward, the USA balked at tea and found solace in the beloved bean.

This news greatly excites me – I can’t begin to explain my love for Colonial Williamsburg. I am a huge history geek (I put my degree in History on hold several years ago because I didn’t know what to do with it other than teach, which I don’t want to do ), and the Colonial period is MY FAVORITE US history subject. I completely geek out at W-burg. Now I have even more reason to go back! HA! I’ll be ordering some of their stuff online when it’s available to hold me over till I can get back to VA
