Sad Day In Coffee Land

Broken Mr Coffee Coffee Grinder

At approximately 12:42 pm, while making my after lunch coffee, my Mr. Coffee Coffee Grinder passed away…or at least I thought it did.

It’s kind of hard to tell in this picture, but mixed in with the half ground coffee beans, is the black plastic part of the chamber that kept the grounds from sticking to the sides. At some point while I was grinding beans today, the grinder also decided it was time to start grinding itself.

Luckily, I have a backup grinder. But the really good news is that I called up Mr. Coffee, talked to a friendly and helpful customer agent and will have a replacement chamber in a week or so.

This could’ve been very traumatic for me. It’s definitely not a high end coffee grinder, but it gets the job done and it’s really convenient and easy to use. I’ve grown very found of it. I use it at least twice a day and I can’t imagine going without it. I have to thank Mr. Coffee for sending me a replacement one with basically no questions asked.

I suppose the one that gave out was under warranty, no?

Mike November 12, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Under warranty, but I think even if it wasn’t they would’ve made sure that I was a satisfied customer.

I wish I could tell you how it was. I’m behind schedule right now…hoping to have two coffees tasted tonight, but right now I’m waiting for a part on my backup grinder to come out of the dishwasher.

HaHa Thats Funny How We Mis/Communicated I Was Asking How My Customer Service Was, Not My Coffee! HaHa I’m In No Rush I Know How It Tastes ;) c|_|

This is a sign from the coffee gods…get a burr grinder my friend! Make the investment, only $99 for the same one I have. It’s the best thing, coffee wise, that I’ve purchased! Just do it ;)

I know…but I have a weakness in my heart for this lil’ Mr. Coffee Grinder.

Nate November 12, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Just trying to give you some tough love… lol

Mike November 12, 2009 at 9:34 pm

I’ll admit that I need it on this one.

Glad you were able to get a cheap (free) fix for your grinder. I dont know what i’d do if my grinder died. Good thing i’l always have a Keurig machine around for those times though.

Mike November 12, 2009 at 9:12 pm

It would’ve been a very scary would without a backup. I’ll add that to my reasons why I need a Keuring machine.

You are a wiser man than I for having backup. If my grinder tanked, I’d have to invite myself over to a neighbor’s house and use theirs every 2 or 3 days — or buy entire pound-bags ground on-site. Neither is an appealing option.

I thought you were going to cry when it died…lol

Mike November 13, 2009 at 4:55 pm

And you didn’t seem to understand the importance of it!

This was great for a late night laugh, I even had to retweet it. You worded it in classic “ms” style, I can’t even imagine your initial reaction. If I only had a camera.

Mike November 14, 2009 at 11:14 am

Glad I could help with the laugh and thanks for the RT!
