The Drink: Sidamo from Barista On Duty
Type: Whole Bean Hand Roasted
Overall Rating: 4.75 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs
I may have said this before. I’ve sampled a lot of amazing coffees from Barista On Duty – the Harrar, the Yirgacheffee and more. I thought I had tried them all, but there was one that he was holding back from me – the Sidamo.
Sidamo is a region in Ethiopia that might not be as well known as some of the other coffee regions, but is recognized for their high quality coffee. This was my first adventure with Sidamo and I couldn’t wait to tear open the packet and brew the coffee in my french press.
The aroma opened my eyes right away. It starts off with a wave of fruit flavor that almost smells like there’s fresh blueberries in my cup. A nutty medium-dark aroma mixed in to complete it.
The taste woke up my tongue. It tastes almost like a flavored coffee, a delicious blueberry flavored coffee with a slightly nutty flavor around the edges. I picked up on hints of chocolate and a spicy flavor. The after taste brought out more of the medium-dark roasted flavor.
Like all of the Barista On Duty coffees, it was exceptionally smooth. This one had a medium body.
If you like flavored coffees, this is a non-flavored coffee that you have to try. In fact, unless you’re strictly a dark roast drinker, this one is like all of the Barista On Duty coffees, a must try. His pan roasted artisan coffees aren’t cheap, $15 for a pot of coffee, but if you’re a coffee lover, you owe it to yourself to try at least one of his coffees.
This one earns an exceptional 4.75 rating on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It was one of the best coffees that I’ve ever been lucky enough to enjoy.

if all art was the same, would there be a phrase such as good art?
i think it’s a lot like coffee.
some beans are better
some roasts are better
some grinds are better
some waters are better
some brews are better
some cups are better
and they cost more…
if by chance you guys get a better
cup you’re probably going to pay
more for it…but it’s better.
Very Well Said Howard! One Of The Things I Value About Mike Is His Keene Senses, To Taste The Coffee, Then Capture It In A Post For His Viewers. I Pride Myself In Anti-Hype Coffee.
