Blueberry Cobbler
The Drink: Blueberry Cobbler from New England Coffee
Type: Ground Flavored Coffee
Overall Rating: 2.5 out of 5 coffee cups

In a pinch last week, I headed to the grocery store looking for some coffee to control a pending lack of coffee emergency. On the shelf, I came across a company that I had never heard of before. They were New England Coffee and they had some pretty interesting offerings in the flavored coffee department – Blueberry Cobbler, Chocolate Cappuccino, Hazelnut Crème and a few others. I started with the Blueberry Cobbler.

The aroma was similar to the Boca Java Deep Blue Blueberry coffee, in the way that filled my house with the scent of blueberry cobbler baking in my oven. It was a delicious smell and set off some food cravings that still need to be satisfied.

As an added bonus, mixed into the aroma were hints of honey and a dash of cinnamon.

The initial sip covered my tongue with a blueberry taste, but it wasn’t the flavor that I was expecting. Instead of tasting like freshly picked blueberries, it tasted like blueberries that had been sitting around too long and were going bad. There was a strong nutty taste that I did like, but it was countered by a processed chemical taste that just didn’t sit right with me.

If it had been more sweet, I think it would’ve been right on the money. I suppose I could’ve added sugar, but that’s becoming a sin in my book.

The after taste really didn’t leave any lasting impression on me. Take that as you want.

It earned a slightly below average 2.5 out of 5 rating on the Daily Shot Of Coffee scale. It’s not horrible, but it’s not my first choice either. I’d recommend the Deep Blue Blueberry for anyone looking for blueberry flavored coffee.

I wasn’t a big fan of this one, however it’s not enough to spoil me on New England Coffee altogether. I think I’ll be trying others.

Do you have a favorite blueberry favored coffee?
