To End Of The Road: Review Of Two Timothy’s K-Cups

Word on the street is that Green Mountain Coffee is shutting down the Timothy’s line of K-Cups, at least in the United States. Rumors include, but are not limited to the following: focusing Timothy’s just in Canada or shutting it down completely and focusing more on their other K-Cup brands.

I won’t be shedding any tears about the Timothy’s K-Cups, but there have been a few good ones that I enjoyed (and a few bad ones that I won’t miss). I have a handful more of Timothy’s K-Cups in my box of coffee to review, so I thought I better review them before they become completely missing in action.

The Drink: Timothy’s Rainforest Espresso
Type: Dark Roast K-Cup
Overall Rating: 3.25 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

First up was Timothy’s Rainforest Espresso.

Thick, Sweet, Luxurious. This espresso coffee blend is a strong, full bodied coffee. 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified – a choice that you can feel good about!
-1QuickCup description.

I like that it’s Rainforest Alliance Certified, but I have a love/hate relationship with dark roast K-Cups, especially those labeled with the phrase Extra Bold. I feel that it usually pushes out all of the flavor. I was hoping for different results this time.

The aroma wasn’t anything to write home about. It reminded me of a generic nutty dark roast aroma with a hint of cigar smoke.

And the taste was strong and it was bold, but it wasn’t too over the top either. It reminded me of Starbucks coffee, more than an espresso and minus the burnt beans taste (yes, I said it…some Starbucks coffee does taste burnt). It also had a hint of the cigar flavor that lingered on my tongue.

A 24 pack of Rainforest Espressi is $12.95 at 1QuickCup.

Overall, Timothy’s Rain Forest Espresso earned a slightly above average 3.25 on the K-Cup scale and that’s exactly how I would describe it, slightly above average.

The Drink: Timothy’s Colombian La Vereda
Type: Medium Roast K-Cup
Overall Rating: 3.75 Out Of 5 Coffee Mugs

Next up in the Keurig was Timothy’s Colombian La Vereda.

This medium coffee has an intense aroma and fragrance with exotic floral notes. It has a balanced body and acidity, with distinctive fruity and citrus overtones.
-1QuickCupDescription.

Even though some of the customer reviews on 1QuickCup were pretty negative about this one, it sounded a lot more like my kind of coffee.

It started off pretty good, with a sweet nutty flavor and a hint of raisins.

The taste was more than pretty good too. The first wave of flavor had a sweet, fruity flavor that reminded me a lot of an apple. The second wave mixed in a nutty flavor that balanced it out. The after taste had a light orange flavor.

The Colombian La Vereda is also $12.95 for a 24 pack at 1QuickCup.

Overall, Colombian La Vereda from Timothy’s earned a well above average 3.75 on the K-Cup scale. It’s one of my favorite K-Cups that I’ve sampled. It was just full of flavor that blended well together and kept me wanting to go back for another sip until my cup was empty.

The bad news is that you probably won’t be able to find these K-Cups around for much longer, so if you see this one pick it up while you can.

Fine Print.
