Top Reviewed Coffees Of 2009
With a little more than twenty-fours hours left in the year, I’m taking a look back at the incredible coffees that I reviewed this year. I’ve been very fortunate, tasting some of the world’s best coffees and it was difficult to pick out my favorites. There were many honorable mentions and probably a few coffees that should’ve been on the list, but here’s the best of the best – in no particular order.
Papua New Guinea from Higher Ground
One of the last coffees that I reviewed this year, but one of the best. I’m glad I had the chance to sample it. It’s one of the few dark roasts that really made me say wow.
100% Kona from Rocketfuel Coffee
I’ve tasted a few Kona coffees this year, they were all good but this one made me really understand all the Kona hype.
Kopi Luwak from Rocketfuel Coffee
Another world class coffee from Rocketfuel Coffee. This is the coffee that really made me stand up and pay attention to Rocketfuel. It was the first five out of five rating that a coffee has earned at Daily Shot Of Coffee.
Harrar from Barista On Duty
Barista On Duty is an independent pan roaster that’s going to make the big boys pay attention in 2010. The Harrar was loaded with flavor and completely wow’ed my tongue. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
Colombia – Guiterrez Micro Lot from Paradise Roasters
With it’s delicious flavor and distinct taste, this coffee truly stood out in the crowd in 2009.
Mudslide from Porty City Coffee Roasters
The best flavored coffee that I had in 2009 without any questions. It’s a delicious chocolate flavored coffee that makes other flavored coffees look like they’re trying too hard.
French Toast Flavored Coffee from The Best Thing To Happen To Coffee
A very close second in the flavored coffee category. All of the coffees were great from this roaster and I love the air roasting taste.
Founders Blend fro Community Coffee
I’ve had a lot of great coffees from Community Coffee, but this one stood out from the rest with it’s rich flavor.
One Love from Marley Coffee
This coffee made by Bob Marley’s son, was incredible. It sent a wave of warm flavor over my tongue and I can still taste it.
Jungle Java Blend from Coffee Masters
I reviewed this coffee way back in April and it still stands out. It was one of the first great coffees that I reviewed in 2009.
So, those were my favorites. What were yours?

My girlfriend buys a blend from Seattle’s Best that I really like. I’m pretty sure it’s the Breakfast Blend but I’ll have to verify. The Mudslide sounds good. Since I can order it online, I’ll have to get some.
It’s been a while since I’ve had Seattle’s Best, but I used to work right near one of their cafes. If it’s the Breakfast Blend, I think that’s one of their coffees that I really like. I highly recommend the Mudslide, great coffee.

I am so excited to see BaristaonDuty’s Harrar on this this, as it should be. It is by far the best coffee I have ever had. I know everyone will keep an eye out. He gives a whole new level of passion for coffee.

Happy New Year!
Have you ever reviewed Community Coffee’s Dark Roast? Right now that is my favorite so I was wondering how you rated it.
I’ve reviewed a lot of their coffees, but I haven’t tasted the dark roast. I liked most of them, so I would imagine that this would be anoyther one that I like. What do you think of it?
Hi,
I really like the community dark roast. I’m not good with all the terms and hints of flavors that reviewers use, just know that is a good, strong cup of coffee that pairs well with skim milk and the various flavored creamers I sometimes use. I also loved the Starbucks Thanksgiving Blend this year, it was amazingly good with pumpkin pie flavored intl. delight creamer, wish I had purchased another bag. I liked the Starbucks christmas blend less this year than in years past. .want to order the Mudslide that you reference above. love your reviews and comments/tweets and blog, thanks for the hard work. . .Stay warm I hear its cold down south. . .
I’ll have to check it out at some point.
I didn’t get a chance to try either of the Starbucks holiday coffees this year. However, I’ve noticed that some years they’re really good, some years not so much. At least in my humble opinion.
